i see the benefit in partials going from depth to quarter back to depth. pretty brutal, though…
i tend to mess up the descent on my max effort squats. either descend too slowly because i’m scared of descending too fast or descend too fast and need to bail because i don’t hit a good bottom position. i like the idea of practicing initiating the descent with the walk-outs. the proper break pattern to whatever style of squat and getting it moving at a nice pace. i see it could help me, anyway. a damn sight more than jumping (or attempting to) with it lolz.

O at is worlds presently in Canada. She competed yesterday. I was able to watch her bench and DL as it was livestreamed. I get to meet her tomorrow. Maybe if I’m lucky I’ll get her autograph?
A very quick update. We lifted Tuesday at 5:30. I went 6 for 9.
Squat was 130, 140 no lift/depth, 140 good
Bench 72.5, 77.5, 80 (5kg meet PR)
DL 152.5 no lift/fell over, 152.5, 160 no lift
Total 372.5 416 wilks
bodyweight 59.9
I took bronze on bench - go figure
No medal for total. My competitors were solid, long time competitors.
Not my best meet but still solid; far from my worst.
I met a ton of new people including Firebug from T-Nation who was lifting when I was working head table.
I met Snappers coach and am really looking forward to meeting Snapper.
Crap, can’t believe I forgot about this. Are you there all week? With Snapper?
Nice lifting! I managed to see your 2nd deadlift over the livestream. You were up against some very solid competition. Great work, wish I could have stayed the whole day to see you lift in person.
Also, disappointed I missed firebug, I was hoping to meet her in person.

Yeah, I forgot to mention, BB got gold on bench. RL showed up to watch and got dragooned into coaching BB. He did an amazing job and it was much appreciated.

Thanks for all the kind congratulations. The meet was fun. It felt pretty solid for a first worlds but best of all was actually being able to participate in the running of it. That opportunity won’t come along again soon, if at all.
By the banquet night however, I was glad to see the back of the week. I didn’t end up talking much about it afterwards because I’d had powerlifting and competition up to my back teeth for a while.
I have some nice pictures of me, BB and Snapper as well. We all look very nice particularly since I was hiding in the bathroom trying to avoid the crazy singing, karaoke head IPF guy.

The karaoke was a bit . . . odd . . . at times.
