Don’t forget that’s in gear though. I wish those were my raw numbers.

It’s one month tomorrow or three full training weeks. I have one more heavyish week of squats and then I’m dialing it back.

Way to talk Ronda into doing a meet. I can’t wait to see how she does. I bet she will have a great time.

Do you have to travel very far for the meet?

I think she will too once she relaxes and realizes it isn’t a job.

Trying to catch up around here. I’m pretty sure SH and I have had a similar discussion about why things like RDLs, rack pulls, and heavy front squats (don’t) count as “taking it easy”. I’ve also heard “oh, you want volume? I’ll give you volume”. Ugh. Men.

The meet is 45 minutes down the road. After we lift, we’ll be working it in one capacity or another. I’ll likely be on the table and BB spotting and loading.

Your first meet is always a job  In fact it doesn’t get any more relaxing. It’s great that she has you to help her out. She’ll have a great time.

I still call it taking it easy. When anyone says otherwise, I just cover my ears and go “lalala I can’t hear you”. I consider it taking it easy because they aren’t meet lifts so if they aren’t going well, big deal. It’s much lower stress on my brain.

just cheering from the sidelines

I got my pump on. I have an old mirror in the corner of the garage and flexed for myself. It was a lunch bag let down :frowning:

Tomorrow we’re up early for an open meet in London. It’ll be my first meet I’m reffing.

What’s your opinion about resetting between each DL rep? I used to. And used to advise other to do so. Now I do touch and go because my form is always better on second and subsequent reps than it is on my first pull. I’m sure it’s because there’s no eccentric prep with this lift.

When I go lighter and want to rep out, I’ll do touch and go. Heavier, meet prep type lifts, I’ll reset. They likely should have just been 4 singles but I was too lazy to take my straps down and whatnot.

So I did my first meet today and survived. I was pretty stressed out but the head ref was my old coach and the other side ref was a gentleman who has been competing and reffing for many years. They were both extremely helpful and gave me feedback between each lift. They were lovely and said I did a great job:)

One of the highlights of the meet were the three novice lifters who didn’t know what gear they needed and ended up sharing a singlet. My only regret about reffing was that I didn’t get to see the three of them jump in and out of the singlet as they followed each other in the lifting line up. That was purely awasome.

Good for you! I knew you passed your test but didn’t realize you were embarking on your career.

How funny about the singlet. I always take extra socks and gave out two pairs at my meet last March.

You know people are willing to help when they will share a singlet.

Those are people who also really want to lift.

I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised by the lack of preparation of some of the novice lifters. Young men in their early 20’s aren’t always known for planning and logistics. The information is all available on our website but after yesterday, I went home and created a big headline on the home page something like: Attention first time lifters that links to a short list of what they need to bring and other things they should think about like, I don’t know, maybe checking the rules.

Nothing says ‘close to your bros’ like sharing ball sweat for a few hours

Thanks for the welcome on my Log. I’ve really enjoyed yours! I was a dirty hippie but my wife made me
take a bath and get a hair cut. Mean Love of my life. LOL
