hmmmm - “kind of a rest day” and you are supposed to be cutting back on the volume?

especially after the stern lecture, right?

It’s a rest day in that I’m not directly training any of the big three. My concession was that I’m not pulling off the floor. Light RDLs don’t count. Shhhhhhhh.

To be fair, the box pulls weren’t that heavy for me. My limiter is my hands and I’m paranoid about ripping them open again. That’s the only thing that seems to do it to me. Two reps is about all my hands can take

Your “light” RDLs impressed the shit out of me.

What do you think of pulling just below the knee?

I’m not sure if it does anything for my deadlift but I like it for upper back and does work locking out heavier weights. Sometimes it’s hard to lock it out; just pulling your shoulders back so it helps that.

Thats along the line I was thinking. I don’t really have anything in my routine, other than pulling from the floor, that does anything for my lock out.

Steely, I’m pissed at her flexibility as well. I also do the cross arm fronts.

Mark, I try like hell, to do as I say but not as I do. I always get the pot calling the kettle black analogy.

If she wants volume I’m gonna give her volume after she wins a medal at Worlds.

I think she is a closet Crossfitter.

BB

A closet crossfitter?

405 is not that heavy for you? Geez. I need to find another pastime.

Awesome work as usual. Five weeks out, eh?

The 405 is an ego lift for me. I don’t know if it works much more than my upper back and my pride. It’s kind of like the antithesis of front squats which are ego busters. Sometimes it’s nice to feel like a power lifting rock star so I’ll stroke my own ego if I have to.

wow!

front squ… 320 squa… wow!

 you’re awesome. I’m speechless

Thanks very much for the link. There certainly were a crap ton of lifters. There were a few that obviously popped out like Jennifer Thompson with the 520 ish raw wilks. There was another woman lifting at approximately 62kg who got a 440 total and I’d never heard of her. She sounds like a beast as well. Usually people at that level are talked about so I was surprised I’d never heard her name.

I can’t imagine running a meet that size. It must be crazy.

I wish I had the speechless effect on more people… like my kids

Thanks for the nice compliment.

awesome lifting

Monday night I went to a sleep clinic and will have the results at some point in the future. I slept like crap with all the wires, electrodes and crap. Plus my back ached like a bitch because it was hard to move around. I’m glad it’s done and I’m sure it will help. The only really good part was spending the evening sitting in bed quietly reading. You had to get there by 8 pm and I wasn’t (thankfully) hooked up until around 11 so I hung out and read my book.

Training last night was minimal with raw benching up to 115 and front squats up to 155. That was it. Even my BB complex with just the bar tired me out and I had to stop part way through. My throat hurts and I’m coming down with something. I’m just lying low for a couple of days.

I got to see JT last attempts in each lift. Really close on making squat and i thought bench and deadlift had a tad to spare, really smooth. I don’t know if you have ever met her or stood next to her but you would never guess she is as strong as she is by her physical presence and she is extremely nice. I have never heard of the other girl either? The meet itself was awesome. The East is loaded with lifters and i grew up and started competing in that area so it was good to see people that i haven’t seen in years. I also had a chance to introduce myself to people who i knew of but have never really officially met (so to speak). I also really enjoy the atmosphere of the raw nationals. I really reminds me of the early days of the ADFPA, very friendly, people supporting their competitors, etc. It’s just a great meet overall. And what a great job the staff did, 335 lifters!!! Amazing effort by the meet director as well as all those involved to pull off a meet of that size. Impressive to say the least.

Squats didn’t feel too bad tonight especially considering I’m fighting something off. I don’t get sick often so when I get anything like a sore throat, I’m a bit of a baby.

Three training weeks left.
