I was reading the training log of an aquaintance who is very smart and analytical. He has been been training to pull hook grip and had some interesting observations on hand placement for mixed grip. This is a link to his log. I’m going to try out his idea. Basically it’s that you should place your pronated hand farther from the centre of the bar than the supinated hand because the bar goes the lowest point of the index and middle finger. Therefore, it is those two points that should be centred on the bar. He explains it much better than I could http://www.firebirdfitness.com/2011/08/finally-hook-grip-success.html?spref=fb

Wowsie. That’s a lot of weight. And it was close. Why no belt?? Is your Katana not a custom? I got a custom F6 (which I haven’t broken in yet). One of its beauties is that it is cut long in the torso and sleeves to fit me. Yours really rides up without a belt. I can’t imagine benching my max without a belt to lock in my shirt.

holy smokes, was that BB in the flesh?!

The pink bow on the shorts goes nicely with the Katana. Cute.

I don’t know how people front squat “bb style”. I’ve tried it once or twice and it felt really unstable. Stick to clean grip. We can be elitist bitches that thumb our noses at all the people who use the easier, less refined BB grip.

I guess the pink bow does add a certain something special to the outfit. I remember looking down at one point and telling BB that it looked like I had really long, bright pink pubes.

The shirt is a custom but it was made for someone much shorter than me. She never ended up using it since it was too much for her. I would use a belt with my F6 but with the katana, I rarely use one since I actively get it to ride up to the point where it almost chokes me out. I still can’t use it pulled down with the chest plate low.

Absolutely in the flesh. He likes to keep a low profile so I out him every now and then.

Ooooh!! so, so close.

I was willing you to lock it out (albeit a day late and from a different continent) but it did fuck all to help.

Nice work as always.

Pink bow? Really?

Nice benching.

okay, couple of points:

first, supposedly this video was filmed in Canada, but I am doubting it because I did not see any beer in the video

second, why no belt? isn’t the collar riding up w/o belt? the Katanan I know you need to place the collar just right to get it to carry through to lockout

third, BB grip on front squats is the only way to go if you a) aren’t a woman or b) a teenager. I haven’t had the flexibility to do them oly style since like 86.

OH MY GOD—you have got to be kidding me with that amazing bench. Nice work…jesus! !

All the cool kids front squat with a clean grip.

You don’t see the beer because it’s in ma belly

I did once hit a raw squat PR after a beer. It’s the carbs.

I don’t belt the shirt because 1) I’m lazy and 2) It’s still too much shirt pulled down

155-3
195-1
235-3 straps down
265-1
285-1
315-1
285-2x1

Walk outs - I’m not sure if this actually does anything for me besides make me feel badass for walking out a heavy weight and then slightly bending my knees

405
425

The video is the last one. I look like a wobbly giraffe.

Bench
100-3x8

The last couple of days I’ve been watching World Juniors in Moosejaw on Livestream. Those kids are awesome to watch. So far it’s been the lightest weights. I just finished seeing the 66 kg men. One just pulled 270 kg (594lbs). They’re so little and cute but freaking strong. Yesterday it was the 52kg women. The Russian walked away with it all; strong as hell.

DB rows
72- one set of 20

I took my daughters back to school shopping today and while waiting for my older daughter, had a brilliant conversation with my younger one. She told me that my ex-husbands current fiancee said that if she had my body, she’d wear whatever she wanted. Win for me  It’s funny what makes you feel you good.

You do have a great physique. So lean and athletic.

Those walkouts are crazy. You look more stable than you probably feel. I think they really help me. I always do a walkout @ or heavier than my second attempt at a meet so that my opener feels okay when I hit the platform. It’s all psychological.

So close on that bench- nice work

your legs look awesome

I can only clean grip front squats- I guess Im about the size ogf a 16 y.o.
the bb style is good if your shoulders are banged up
mine are but I just cant do it

Silly ? What BB style on front squats?

Congrats on reffing your first meet.

Thanks. It was kind of fun. BB laughed at me because less than a year ago I stated categorically that I had no interest in reffing.
