Size Matters

I just went back and looked at all the videos from the days I’ve squatted straps up and read some of what I’ve written. The common factor was “the bar felt unsteady and was all over my back”

Also, no more heavyish squatting on Tuesdays. That is taking too much out of me pre-meet. On bench Tuesdays, I’ll do a variation like front squats or zerchers or something.

Great looking squat/depth! Looked pretty easy!

Interesting that your excess strap material is where the bar sits. Of course you sew on orignal seams?

You’re right. Depth is awesome. And that was a pretty graceful fall for suit straps up and wraps.
I don’t actually have the straps sewn on the original seams.
I’m reporting you to the IPF RIGHT NOW.

You have your safety bars set very low on your rack don’t you.

Is that for any special reason?

and great, great squatting.

That 315 was deep Julie. Really effing deep.

I’m so stupid. This would have never passed equipment check. You know how you can know a lot and then not even think about what you know when you’re doing something? I’m cute though right?

I had lowered the bars earlier so it’s easier to judge depth from the side. Having them a bit higher was right at the spot where you’d judge. However, now we’re taping/watching from another angle it doesn’t affect it. Thanks for pointing that out. My two dumps last night would have been significantly less traumatic if the pins were higher. I’m moving them up.

It’s such an awesome feeling sitting in the hole with 315 pinned to your back figuring out how to dump it. I never even asked BB to spot because it’s not really a big weight to me.

Nice skwatts!

So awesome that I’m going to put on my official armchair internet judge’s polo and award you the elusive 4th white.

Hey O what class are you in at IPF worlds?
The french and algebra class. ha

I’m 63 kg, M1.
If I read the schedule correctly then, you’re class lifts at 5pm on the Tuesday (27th)?

Glad the safety bar conversation happened cause after watching your fail i was thinking there is NO way my husband would want me squatting without someone in the house.

Great win squat!

That’s correct unless there are any last minute changes.

It would suck to be called out on this at Worlds. The checks I’ve been through have really varied. Been waived through with no checks at times and had my wraps measured at the last meet.

Yes, you’re cute.

I’ve dumped the bar many times over the past few years. Dumping raw is never a big deal. With all the gear on it gets a bit awkward because you don’t have the same flexibility. In fact, in a suit and wraps, I’d be hard pressed to get off the floor without help. I doubt I’m the only one. I could just be a spazz though

Our checks are usually pretty thorough so I don’t know what was in my head.

BB squatted tonight since he was feeling like crap last night and packed it in while it was light. I didn’t train so between spotting him, I resewed my straps. I tried it out on some lightish weight just to get the feel and it’s much better but I kind of irritated my back having it the other way. It feels bruised right where the bar sits. What a cry baby.

I also realized that I have a tendency to set up off centre to the left. I’m working on that. I think I have a real thing for pulling to the left. Maybe I just need my alignment checked and my tires rotated.

I wish! lol

crash vid is awesome - you are so freakin bendy! when I saw where your safeties where I thought “On No!” but you just dropped like Gumby in the hole. Your smile after was pretty sweet. I frown like a kid who was refused some halloween candy! lol.

Also your depth depsite the long legs is what motivates me when my squat turns into “cringing above a public toilet” squat.

I’m on vacation last week of August and 1st of september but I’ll def try and ask for a couple of days during worlds. Maybe if I compromise (returning calls and doing business) I can get on ok. Would love to see you and BB tear it up. I could even take pictures! /now I’m getting giddy. lol)

I just absolutely love the fact that you squat more (and better) than 90% of the douchebags I see in gyms all over the country.

Just pure awesomeness.

The bendy thing is an attribute that BB is particularly fond of
