Thanks. It was a nice crash

I’m looking forward to the meet for a lot of reasons. One of which is to meet some people in real life that I’ve met on-line a while ago.
I will be one!

Why would you wear the F6 if you can make the Katana work for you? It’s a better shirt.

So glad you’re back to posting regular vids again.
Posted regular vids as opposed to the niche porn ones with pets and puppets?

I’m really looking forward to meeting you at worlds. I’m also excited to meet Malinda. I think the entire thing is going to be a blast and I don’t think you’ll regret coming.

Regarding the shirt, I thought I’d just try it out again to see what I got out of it. I’m getting a lot more than before but think I’ll stick with the Katana.

I like how you were smiling the minute you hit the floor. When I fail like that I laugh and everybody in my gym looks at me like I’m special.

aren’t all supplements banned in the IPF? Protein powder gives lifters an unfair advantage over those who are dependent on nothing but food…
Now, now.

O: You just post whatever vids you want. No judgment here.

Joe: You are special.

Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Funny, little while back met this younger dude, good lifter, who quit lifting USAPL because he really enjoys his marijuana. Think the guy is a 24/7 smoker. Really solid numbers as well.

I’ve never understood the ban on performance detracting drugs. We have a guy who was suspended for it and now lifts in another fed.

Wednesday August 3

BB complex warm up

Squat
bar-10
11505
155-3
195-1
235-3 straps down
265-1
295-1
315-1
335-1
All above were done straps up/wraps. I need to practice more in full gear. 265 is very light for me full gear but it’s typically my last warm up before my opener and has to be in full kit.
315-2x2 trying for more speed. Everything above was very slow and tentative. I don’t know why my geared squats have slowed to glacial speed.
295-3

The good news is that squatting in suit bottoms on Monday seems to have helped with the adductor. I didn’t have any pulling today so my light squat days from now to the meet will be done in the bottoms.

Video is second set of 315

Bench
100-3x8

OHP
70-9
75-6
80-1,3

Low rows with bands - A few sets. They’re more challenging when you give each other wet willies and head flicks mid set.

You just gotta cycle the weed right.

THis is the set at 295. It’s a bit faster. The heavier I get them more tentative I’m feeling. The funny thing is that nothing feels all that heavy to squat, it just feels unstable on my back.

As I was finishing this set, my feet were pounding and I was thinking that a week or so ago I commented about Snapper doing triples in full gear. Now I’m eating my words. I did my wraps loose but holy cow my feet still hurt.

Those are beautiful squats. And don’t you look sexy in your gear! Okay. Not relevant. But still. What kind of wraps are those? I like the black and white. I have red and black. And green and black.

The wraps are APT convicts. They are pretty stiff. I don’t wear them all that often because of that. I get tired just putting them on.

I’ve just ordered a new pair of Inzer gripper wraps. I’m looking forward to trying them out. I wrap pretty loosely on my opener; to the point where I could stand in them for 30 minutes. I’m hoping the gripper wraps make them less slidey when they’re loose.

Do you wrap yourself at meets? That takes a lot of energy.

Standing in your wraps for 30 minutes? Are you kidding?

love watching the vids, I like to see where you girls place that bar. Is that considered a low bar squat? Germanone wants me to get the bar lower on my back esp now I have the shoes. Ill try, although I like when he was here and could say lower/higher and Id feel where that bar was. I just wasnt at that point yet.

Its hard to imagine doing so much weight, 100#s is a goal for me i guess, or body weight.sigh
Not sure why Im intimidated from the amount of “weight” for a squat but dont seem to do that with DL. Maybe I just need to have a squat fail to move past that … hesitation.

To inspire you to squat heavier; one of my favourite quotes:

“I wouldn’t tell somebody that they weren’t a powerlifter because they only bench pressed, or they only bench pressed and deadlifted, but, what the hell is wrong with squatting? What are you, afraid? I thought powerlifters were supposed to be big, tough guys. Strap your cock on, leave your pussy at home, put a bar on your back and bend your knees!” - ‘Captain’ Kirk Karwoski

That one always fires me up. I kind of feel weird strapping a cock on though. Maybe that’s what’s affecting my depth

It is, however, a bit scarier to put the weight on your back than it is to pull it off the floor. The heavier it gets, the harder it is to walk it out and just plain accelerate it. I’ve had a few squatting mishaps and have learned to respect the weight.

My bar position is low. I’ve tried higher and can’t seem to get it to sit right. BB was demonstrating but he has monster traps so the bar sits on them and doesn’t really touch his should bones. That’s where it hits on me. I’ve always been more naturally low bar.

Let me know what you think of the Inzer wraps. I need a new set and those were the ones I was looking at.

Just being able to relate to a woman and a smaller build one like you and Snap inspires me. The strap on wouldnt go over big with the hubby haha

Yes on the weight on back versus pulling off floor, with DL I feel like its up to ME to dominate the weight and with the bar on my back
I tend to feel Im the one being dominated. Thanks O

I’ve pretty much always done my own wraps. I realise it would be more effective to have someone else do it but not having that in my control adds an element of stress that negates any advantage I’d get out of tighter wraps. It’s something I’m working on.

I’m exaggerating about the 30 minutes but truly, for my opener, they are wrapped no tighter than a knee sleeve. It’s more of a mental thing versus supportive. Typically, my opener is something I can triple, straps down with no wraps. I prefer to open light and make bigger jumps. Getting my first squat in is such a head game for me. I’m hoping to get better with that aspect at some point.

Thanks for the nice compliment. I have been doing the complex at the beginning of most workouts. I only use the bar but it’s still tough. It feels like it hits just about every muscle and joint I’ll be using and gets things warmed up nicely.

If you do want to dip you knees into the wrap pool, you could try a pair of light ones and just wrap loosely for support. I really wouldn’t recommend cranking them unless you’re going to compete. It’s very painful for me and feels like I’m getting thrombosis of the feet when I use them.

I must admit I’m a total pussy about wraps. Never done my own. Ironically, at the meet on Sunday, the guy with the biggest squat asked me to wrap him. And I was like . . . “Umm, I don’t really know how to.” I think he was shocked. He couldn’t get wrapped in time for his first squat and had to open without 'em. He got it. I will say that I was able to find PMPM’s coach and ask him if he’d wrap this guy for his second and third.

It’s kind of appalling how much I know about this sport but have never wrapped myself or anyone else. Jesus. Time to change that.
