Oops. That was a typo. It’s supposed to be 25 not 35.
hey ouroboro!
I just read through the last couple pages. Awesome sumo DL’s, Squats and dips. You’re a machine!

Ellen Stein and Pat Susco and a few others all trained at this gym
it was very cool to see - they are all mid fifties and all have the awesome
heavy Brooklyn accents.
very free with the tips and help with training, spotting lift offs etc.
there was a 2nd group of Russsian emigres that lifted there too-
older guys in there late 60’s tearing shit up.
That gym had more 45 plates then any gym I have ever seen.
lots of juice heads and lot of made guys.
Now they train in living room gym- which is Pats living room literally
you can see it in Ellen’s youtube.
here is what goes down in Pats living room

I loved the video. Thanks for posting the link. I think if I get a Rottweiler, I could lift like that too.
RE squat like a girl video: I had a chance to watch it this morning before I headed out to work and thought a lot of things about it but didn’t have the time to type it out so here it goes…
As far as her unilateral leg work comment goes, I interpreted that as a simple comment about how she trains. I don’t think she was trying to suggest that lunges will make you squat 2.5x bodyweight. It didn’t really register when I read the comments, but who knows.
Something about the video just rubs me the wrong way. I can’t see that anything is off and I want to believe that its legit, but it just doesn’t add up. 295 at 114 would put her in the number two spot as a raw female lifter according to PL watch’s top 50 list. I know most people don’t give a shit about powerlifting, but still. And she handles the weight with such ease.
I have no idea how you would fake that. I mean, its not like she could have taken 25lb bumpers and said that they’re rubber coated 45s. And what kind of gym has fake plates lying around. And really, who has the time to make up and post fake lifts on youtube? What could you possibly gain from that to make it worth the effort?
And finally, while I agree that she doesn’t look like a 300 pound squatter, you can definitely tell she’s got some mass in her other videos (L-sit to handstand vid, for example). And I’m totally requesting that Stronghold wears a cut off flannel when he spots me at my meet.
your arms look nom in that deadlift vid!
glad to hear your squats are feeling good these days. and playing is where it’s at in the summer ![]()

I’m not sure why it bugs me. I didn’t watch all the videos; just the bench, deadlift and squat. At first glance it seemed legitimate but when I watched it a few times it seeemed off. I guess I put it in perspective of women who compete. There aren’t a ton of women out there who can squat 2.5 times their bodyweight raw and those that can, look like they have a shit ton of weight on their back.
By comparison (using wilks formala) a 200lb man would have to squat 594. That’s a considerable amount of weight and it would look like it even walking it out.
I don’t know how you would fake it but why? It may be a business thing, personal training or selling videos or something. I guess it just picked my ass for some reason; probably because I have a decent idea of how much work it takes to get to that level.
I did love the Joe Dirt spotter though. I think that gives 50lbs right there.
Video seemed like it would be hard to fake but who knows. Also she was throwing around 225 on rdl’s like it was nothing. I know people used Thompson and Stein as reference but what if she doesn’t fit into their category (supplement wise). BTW saw both of those women lift in person and JT several times. Just amazing lifters. You would walk right by JT and not think anything of her as far as strength…crazy

Okay I’m just jealous of the skinny little bitch.
I’m going to do some lunges now.

ha ha ha ha don’t forget the step-ups too or whatever she does…lol
I know what you are saying thought about the 200 lbs guys squatting 600, but mcCauliffe and Ricks have done it. Pisses me off to…lol.

I have no doubt that more men than that have done it but my point is that you know who they are, it isn’t common and I bet you any money that they actually look like they have that much weight on their backs. They aren’t walking it out three miles and popping off two ass to grass reps like they were lunges.
I’m in the middle of my sets… one of the advantages of having a gym in my garage, 10’ from my computer.
I’m squatting while I’m typing.
you dragged the computer out to the garage to keep posting
awesome.
or is it that close to the house.
I think skinny bitch is legit
maybe she is on the skinny roids
she was pulling 315 in one video yes she had on straps.
and BG is right she has a bit more mass or size on in her other vids
could it be that Joe dirt in his matching hat and plaid is a hyuge guy
nah.
Pat and Ellen are fun- I do miss that crazy gym in Brooklyn.
He used to bring his dog there too when he worked the counter.
they trained with another woman- who was smaller then Ellen I am trying to remember her name
but she broke records too like every weekend.
their was also some crazy strong man types
really the best part of that gym was the Made Guy Owner-
and his wanna be pals.
Wednesday July 13
Dynamic BB complex warm up with bar
Squat
135-5x8
Alternating high bar narrow stance butt to calves with wide low bar barely breaking parellel
20km bike ride during which I saw two deer; one of which I yelled at because he was standing in the middle of the road like an idiot. Even though I waved my arms, he didn’t move and just looked at me like I’m the fool.
Yes, my computer is in my family room right by the door to the garage so my computer is about 5’ from my rack.

Lol…that is a classic
Posting about squatting during your squat workout, eh? lol
Upon further review, I think that girl is pretty cool and I chose to believe that she’s legit. I think this is even cooler and legit-er though.

That’s the video that I was looking for. Now that I’ve seen this one again, the other one doesn’t seem that far fetched. I purely love watching this woman squat.

That video looked odd to me too. The 295 looked as easy as the 225. She looked like she could have done that for 8 or 10. It also looked like the walkout was way to easy. Maybe it isn’t fake, but the girl just doesn’t look like she has 295 on her back. Plus there’s that comment about “no fear” and yet the reps are easy. If real, it obviously wasn’t a max attempt so why make that comment? Why post a video of two sub-max reps? Its all just odd to me.

Keep in mind that this girl weights 40-50 lbs more than the other one.

I’m on the fence as I can see it going either way. The part that bothers me is her bar position. It’s right at the bottom of her neck which makes it that much more of an amazing feat. That high up and she doesn’t even fall slightly forward…
