EDIT ok I came back to ask what is sling shot?
It’s a device that simulates a bench shirt without all the effort and pain required to get into one.

Hey Julie, things go okay this weekend?
Not for me personally but overall, the meet was great. It was a lot of fun and a completely different experience. I did a bit of a write up on our provincial website with pictures. I’m waiting for our technical guy to upload the videos. If you’re interested, check out ontariopowerlifting.org.

Sorry about the squats. What happened? Glad your spirits don’t seem to be dashed.
I’m not sure what happened. First and third were high. The second was very deep but I bounced at the bottom. I’m still trying to figure out why I get these periodic meets where I shit the bed. When I hit it; it’s good. I cut weight and hyper hydrated to get lighter even though I’m at the bottom of my weight class. This meet was totally based on wilks. If I got light enough and had a decent meet, I would have won. Based on the results it was a reasonable bet but putting that much water through my body wore me out. I spent the week riding the couch in the evening tired out. I can’t do it anymore. I just have to stay a bit heavier and be stronger. My training leading up to the meet was strong and right on track. That’s the only variable. It’s too hard on my body now.
The up side is that every time I’ve come off a bomb, I’ve had my best meet to that point and my next meet is worlds so it’s all good.

I was wondering what happened. I thought it might have been a weight cut issue.
The 2nd squat I thought you had until I went back to the video and you did have a slight bounce.
Funny you mention about the weight cut and water hydrate 'cause I do the same even though I’m safely in the weight class before I even start. Why is that?
I’ll have to go watch the vids when posted.
IPF masters’ worlds is September 26-October 1 in St. Kitts. I will be there for two days (Friday/Saturday) and would love to meet anyone from the O35 who plans to go.

I can only guess it’s because we’re idiots. Another very successful lifter I know has done the same thing in the past. It was a strategic thing this time that didn’t pan out. The meets when I haven’t done it or just watched what I ate were more successful.
As for distractions, when I was on the platform, I didn’t notice anything. That’s just the way it’s always been for me.
I’m looking forward to seeing you at Worlds. I think there will be a lot of familiar faces.

well you competed and that is more that 99.9% of the people out there ever do. weight manipulation can really mess with you.
That’s true but I’m very competitive and was there to win. On the bright side, I made myself feel better by beating a bikini girl with my squat suit in the bathroom.

<< Happy?
Awesome. Now that I’ve invested in a one piece bathing suit I hate bikinis. Actually I don’t. I will admit though, that I felt terribly dowdy next to all the 20 something bikini clad ladies last weekend. I console myself with the belief that I’m smart, good in bed and can perform zerchers without tearing a bicep.
I have to go see my ART guy. I’m still having a problem with pulling in my left hamstring/adductor area when I squat. I tried icing it tonight. Squats were slow tonight and lacked speed because I was wary of hitting the hole too fast and aggravating it.
