sorry no vid…i dont usually carry a camera to school…i can describe my workout tho
after i warmed up i put 500 on the bar and did 2 sets of 6
then 2 sets of 2 with 550 which i have never been able to do before
so i went ahead and put the 6 plates on out of curiosity
not because i really believed i could do it…
it came up easy untill about an inch past my knees…i fully believe it took 45 seconds to crank it the rest of the way up…
after i did it i slamed the weight down and kicked the shit out of it…and screamed…alot…
i wasnt suited i just had a belt on…obviously
state competitions are next week for my school…think ill do good?
Am I reading this right? after doing 2 doubles with 550…the number 11 all time deadlift for your weight class, you decided, just for the hell of it, do pull 585, the number 6 all time for your weight class?
When you say “school” please tell me this is college and not high school. If you say your in high school I’ll either call you a liar or I’ll die a little on the inside, not sure which.
Seriously though, if this is for real, awesome work man. Wanna give us a brief synopsis of your training history?[/quote]
well i am in highschool…soo yea. ill make sure some one has a camera at my state comp and if i can figure out how ill post it.
I smell BS. Not to rain on the parade, but this guy’s description of the event makes it sound casual. The fact that he did it, you know, just to see what would happen, makes me believe it is bullshit.
A guy pulling 585 raw at 165 after years of dedicated effort on a good program is amazing. A guy pulling 585 raw at 165 almost by accident is too amazing to believe.
Are you sure the plates were 45 lb. plates? I have a feeling he may have pulled six 10 kg. plates for a less respectable (but more probable) PR of 309 lbs.
i am not going say the man is lying, or “i smell bs” but i remember the Deadlift thread, and all the guys under 200lbs that posted pulls of 500-600lbs (most claimed RAW too), that never posted pics or videos. in my many years of training all over the country, and on the PL platform, i did not see that many good pulls(as compared to the numbers often claimed on this site). granted, this is a big site with a large international membership, so perhaps i am narrow sited. but i just have not seen that many big pulls by little guys to believe every number posted on this site.
i am not saying that the OP is not truthful, just that i doubt all the numbers claimed on this site are for real.
Just FYI the American Record for 16-17 year old 165 lbers in the USAPL (not raw) is 575 so this is getting harder to believe by the minute. Post a vid, even if it is 500x6 or whatever, and then we will believe you again. We are not doubting you per say but the statisical likelihood that someone with your stats actually did this.
Well, at least the guy started a thread about it. It’s not like he chimed in on a youtube video “not bad… im 14 160 lbs and bench 395 lbs” !
well i dont blame any of you for the disbelief…it is easy to post something not true on the internet and im sure it has been done before…but if you will check my history of posts you will see that about a year ago i was shooting for the same numbers but sadly i couldnt get them…now…a year later and a year stronger i CAN get them…the reason i wasnt expecting to get it is because i tried about a month or a little less earlier and couldnt…like i said i will try to post a pic from my upcoming meet, but if i cant figure it out i will pm someone a link to the web site were all the lifts for the state comp are posted.
That person can then vouch for me.I dont want to have to do that tho because that site also posts my name along with where i go to school and with id theft and all i think that would be bad. Thanks for the complements from all others tho. Ive lifted weights since i was 11-12 and have always worked hard

and really who could possibly mistake a 45 for a 10k…that is ridiculous
its kind of like on the youtube videos where 50% of the responses are "wow thats good I’m 14 years old 325 bench 300 incline 500 deadlift "
