I’m blown away. Ken wrote back and said to give the shirt a shot and if I find it’s still too aggressive, he’ll exchange it. I was worried about even trying it because the old-school policy of most places was “if you lift in it, you own it.”
that’s awesome. +1000 Ken Anderson
Ken Anderson = awesome human being. That is all.
Before it slips my mind - FIRST SESSION IN SUPER F6 / Katana Material
To say it went horribly would be an understatement. My best raw bench is 335, best shirted is 415 (KKDD).
It took 3 sets of triples with 365 off of a 3 board to even get the shirt stretched out enough to seat on me right. Moved to a 2 board and I got stapled. Which is absolutely hysterical to me because:
-it’s 30 lbs. over my raw max
-I’ve got a shirt on
-it’s a 2 board.
I may have been a little gased by that point, but I was told the bubble on the F6 is ridiculously small. I think I’m used to popping out of the bubble to try to touch and then jumping back in (if that makes sense) and I was being told to push my elbows out until the shirt locked up, then tuck to get it to touch in the bubble and I wasn’t listening to the damn cues kept popping out of the bubble and ending up with my elbows behind the bar (instead of under) dumping forward onto my belly.
In my heart I know it’s just a matter of more work and technique on my part but it was a little discouraging to say the least. Anyone who thinks you just throw equipment on and increase your lifts is retarded…include me in that list. I thought I had a fair amount of experience to be able to toss this shirt on and maybe set a PR tonight and I just feel like a damn fool.
More updates as they become available.
Unstable, I have used an F-6 for 4-years in competition. It’s a great shirt and very forgiving of mistakes. With the normal F-6 material I’ve got around 120lbs at best. A super F-6 (scoop neck) and the stronger Katana material you will eventually get a serious carryover. You’ve got me looking into a super F-6 in Katana materal myself.
These shirts are difficult to learn but you’ll get it and be happy with the numbers. Best of luck.
