(This is tangential to the thread so may be safely ignored.)
As a Canadian, the polarization of American politics confuses me. Good decisions benefiting the greatest number of people are always compromises. Both the American left and the American right^ seem more interested in describing those they disagree with in extreme terms instead of starting off where they agree. I don’t think most people of either party dislike America or have crazy values. But I do think many elites benefit from this polarization.
Some people might be “Star Bellied Sneetches”, but if you travel the world you learn people are basically extremely similar, and always haven been. Politics is largely about magnifying these trivial differences. I agree major political parties are essentually different sides of the same coin^^ and largely beholden to similar interests. Nothing substantial will be accomplished until both parties learn anew to talk and work together. This is not naïve idealism, but rather the simple mathematics of nearly-even House and Senates.
^And even the terms left and right, as used today, are stupid. They were first used to describe where the peasants, clergy and aristocrats sat at the final Estates-Général conference trying (without much success) to prevent the French Revolution in 1789. The world today is far more complicated than simple French society. These terms have long exhausted their usefulness… how can, say, Putin both be very left wing and very right wing too? The world has become full circle?
The left is openly anti American… and proud to be such useless ungrateful ingrates…ironically many places on Earf would imprison them for acting like they do here to include their psychotic speech
One quarter of all people imprisoned worldwide are in America. The history behind the surprisingly few people responsible for these outcomes is interesting… but that’s another story.
I want to see George Clooney become a superhero that flys around the world in a private jet with his hot super wife telling impoverished people how to vote.
I posted this in the psych thread, but any shitstorms it ignites probably belong in here.
This popped up in my feed last night and sort of blew my hair back because he perfectly states the problem in 1:09 minutes. Things are different at the bottom of the socioeconomic scale (just finished JD Vance’s Hillbilly Elegy, which lays things out very nicely there without knowing what the solution would be), but for the women who are not living in poverty, here is your explanation, and why the burden is on men. More women leave than men. Why? Many reasons. But the issue is that men have stopped trying to be better than nothing. Women are very self-sufficient. We can earn, cook, clean, travel, raise kids, walk the dog - the question is why any of us would prefer not to have a partner in all this.
Men would not remain in jobs if they behaved there the way many of them behave at home. Why are they behaving as they do at home?
If women were as combative with their bosses as they are with their husbands, they’d be fired too.
The video title is cringey as fuck too.
“Teach me to be the man you want”???
Yes dear, how can i cater to you dear?
Simps following simps.
Lead the ship or dont be on it at all.
Fuck, I’m not even done lol.
I think most married men, even boyfriends, would die to keep their woman safe.
3 boyfriends ate bullets in the Aurora theater shooting so they could shield their girlfriends.
But that’s not better than nothing.
This has to be one of your worst posts. Fucking hell.
