Overall a great session. Not everything was perfect but the effort was spot on.

I remember reading someone write about
‘You are what you train’ or something like that. It might have been @T3hPwnisher, if it wasn’t you Pwn then sorry but if not, feel to write about it anyway
.
Well right now I am training for strongman, Took a sneaky back pick after the axle overhead and those Zercher holds tonight. I will let the picture do the talking.
Wow! Impressive pic!!!
I think it was @throwawayfitness that talked about you are what you cultivate.
Nice! You’re looking lean, too. Have you dropped weight?
No drop in weight and I am not trying to cut. I am eating a little above maintenance and if i am honest probably eating too much crap. I just think the type of training needs a lot of food and even without trying I am looking leaner. All I know is that I am HUNGRY a lot.
Strongman Saturday
Today I did some carry medley and some tire drags.
Carry medley was 3 objects
Sandbag - 80KG (176 lbs)
Keg - 65KG (143 lbs)
Slam ball - 55KG (122 lbs)
The course was 15 meters.
Time to carry all 3 implements
I did 4 runs - times were 44s, 37s, 41s, 39s
This was hard work but felt solid enough. I deff could go quicker especially on the return runs.
After this I did some tire sled drags
2 x 15m with 55KG in the sled
4 x 15m with 83KG in the sled.
These weren’t super heavy, more working on technique and breathing.
This was a really good session. It is a beautiful spring day here and the sun was shining. Took advantage of some shirtless training to get my Vit D fix.
Loving the sun
Forearms took a beating on the carry.
Body is sore all over after the last 2 days of training. It always surprises me how sore my arms are after carrys.

Drop set on last one 100, 80, 60, 40
Massive burn and pump on that drop set.
Legs hurt so much after this I couldn’t work out whether it was better to stand or sit. Just had to walk (hobble) around and Hope my knees didn’t give way (if you know you know)
Seated Dumbell shoulder press, pump reps
20 x 27. - more progress - good
I had to have some bloods taken this morning for 6 monthly tests. The nurse told me not to lift anything heavy for the day. Lucky for me I can’t press that much weight and squats were lighter weight ![]()

I had a little bruising and blood seeping from where the needle took blood. So decided to call it a night and not do the dips or rows.

Axle top set grind - tagging some people who love a good grind - @alex_uk @Koestrizer @T3hPwnisher @wiseman83 @SvenG @atlas13 @ChickenLittle
Squats
Hell yeha, there it is! Awesome grind, mate.
I see you got an underbelt and switched the exercise order. I wish my own clients would listen this well. ![]()
I think you will progress a good bit further even.
Don’t forget the endurance and rep efficiency part of the rising bar type event you will do. Doing your second session in an EMOM or even every 30 second format will go a long way there.
Thanks mate, had to get the under belt to stop tacking the skin off my guts ![]()
Changing the order made so much sense, not sure why I didn’t think of that.
Fantastic effort there Simo, loving the grind!
I do enjoy the grind. The music is fantastic. ![]()
Dude, stop embellishing. This was an RPS 6 at best, I counted.
Nice work, though…seems not long ago your max was about 80, this is a big jump.
PR Party! ![]()
Way to power through that one!
It felt like 12 secs when I was trying to get it to move ![]()
Unreal! Amazing effort there, @simo74!
I think my max overhead was something like 80 x 3 for strict press. I have never really done much push press and really never done much overhead work in general (bloody power lifter).
Hopefully if I keep training it, there should be more gainz to come.

Lower back was pumped solid after this.
Lateral raise side
12.5 x 14 x 3 sets

Lateral raise rear

Pump
Dumbell seated overhead press

3 sets x 10, 10, 10 - more ouch these never get better
Hanging knee raise (slings)
3 sets x 15, 15, 15

And that is Wednesday workout done. Not really happy with the results but the effort was good.
Axle - 200 and 210
Axle 180
At the doctors again today for some 6 monthly blood test results, mostly just checking my cholesterol and kidney function.
I continue to have results of poor kidney function (eGFR) and elevated Creatine. Now obviously my diet of high meat and my hard physical training have an impact on my blood creatine levels and my Doctor is aware of this so not super concerned. My numbers have not been good for the last few tests (3 years). We have decided to do a renal ultrasound this time anyway just to be sure.
Tagging a few guys who have been around a while to see of this is something you have experienced ? If you did, how did you manage it ? Anyone able to bring their blood creatine levels down whilst still training hard and eating meat ?
