Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries Part 2.0

Thanks for all the kind comments guys n gals I couldn’t stop eating last night, just goes to show what a few mins of hard work can do. I am sore and bruised today but really happy with my overall performance.
The guy who won yesterday was 10 years younger than me and actually placed second last year in the masters category of Australia’s strongest man. To hang with someone of that level and not embarrass myself was really really good.
I really do love the competition in strongman. Everyone is really friendly and supportive. So many young people there doing their first novice comp told me how charged up they got from seeing the masters going hard. When you are 30 years older than some of them (deff old enough to be their dad - nearly grandad), they always tell you how insane it is that you are still out there giving 100%.

Dude, saw the vids. The grind on the squats was so admirable. Every time it looked like you were done, you got another one in. I LOVED the fight on the last sandbag. And you terminator’d your way through the deadlift medley. Loved to watch it. Setting an incredible standard and being a fantastic male role model for your kids.

Thanks Pwn thats very kind of you. As I get older I know its getting harder for me to win these but I remember you saying something about making it harder for the next guy regardless. That is definitely where my head was at with those squats. Even if I don’t win I just want to make the other guys have to work hard for it.

I am surprised they even let you compete wearing those shoes.

Good stuff dude, way to show them what an old timer can do.

Those lovely red shoes have a hole in them and may have to be retired soon. The question is whether I replace them with another red pair or mix things up and change the colour?

It’s less about the color and more about the fact that nobody at the gym is there to wrestle you, mate.

Thanks mate, Tiff the lady who was judging the depth is one of the head refs for Australia’s Strongest Man and is well known for her like of deep squats, I think there is even a facebook page where you can post a video to see of she likes it  I really didn’t want to get a missed rep and waste that energy so I just went low low.

@EmilyQ @unicornsandrainbows thanks ladies, love having you here and love the work you put in everyday. It’s easy to work hard when there are so many positive people doing the same thing. Salute
