It really was a good day. I was a little apprehensive going in because my right hip flexor and knee were both sore. But once I ignored the pain the squats actually moved ok.

OK so my right knee, that’s the one I have been having pain in for over 12 months now, pretty sure there is a tear in there somewhere, was in pain all night. Add to that my upper quad on the same side, hip flexor and hip joint were all super grumpy too. Had a terrible night of basically no sleep. Got up in the middle of the night and massaged some pain cream into my hip, quad and knee but it didn’t really improve too much. I will get in the roller and ball tonight and work the area, and hopefully get in some sort of movement or light conditioning. I have deadlifts on Wednesday and the plan is to move something heavy so hoping the leg will calm down before then.

Work in some BW or lighter goblet squats during the day, get some blood flowing thru the nagging zones chief?

Good idea. Just not spending so much time sat down and doing the odd walk would be an improvement for me.

Getting in some active recovery tonight with burpees and kettlebell swings

20 burpees - 5 swings
15 burpees - 10 swings
10 burpees - 15 swings
5 burpees - 20 swings
Total 50 of each.

Then a bunch of foam rolling to work through some soreness. Hopefully will be good for deadlift tomorrow.

Wednesday 17th May - week 5.

Axle Deadlift - ramp to max 6 reps

170 x 6 (374 lbs) no belt no straps - Fk yer

Decided to add Belt and straps now.
And this is where it all went wrong. Mistakes were made !

180 x 0. Figure 8 were too short for the axle so had to hold with finger tips - got it 6 inches off the ground and stopped

Decided I had to come back and have a go without the straps.
180 x 1 mixed grip with belt. Back was fried to just did a single. Way too slow.

Dropped the weight and did some reps
140 x 10 - solid finish

Well @wiseman83 this didn’t go to plan.
The original plan was to do sets of 4 reps with 170. But 160 for multiple sets went so well last week I decided to see what the max weight for 6 reps I could move. I had 180+ in my head.

Some good and some bad. Getting a clean 170 x 6 without a belt was a rep PR and shows the strength is there. The rest was just a train wreck.

These moved pretty well. At least overhead was good.

Weird session tonight, worked plenty hard enough though and that is all that really counts.

I’m the same. Feel like my high rep maxes for dead’s would be huge but for better lungs.

The knee is still in a little pain and the hips is sore but I don’t think either effected the pills last night. Tight hammies and glutes and just tight through the upper back were more of an impact. I feel like I can pull 180 for multiple reps no problem but the fking around with the wraps last night and not having a good grip with my hands threw me off and the issue was then mental. No real problem it’s all just work and it gives me something to aim at for the next block.

I also feel I am better for reps than for singles like we talked about.
