I personnaly don’t have experience with it but a famous french fitness youtuber did a video about Mouth tape to have a better sleep. Maybe you can try this ![]()
I don’t know if you drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes, but I possessed both vices. Even though I’m overweight, when I stopped smoking (currently I don’t smoke, I vape) and drinking alcohol in the last weeks and month, I stopped snoring almost immediately.
Get it checked by a doctor with the home apparatus thingy.
I snore (various sources disagree about the frequency and intensity). I did get my sleep checked for other reasons once and the doc confirmed that i was snoring but that was it. Since it’s not a medical concern, I honestly do nothing about it. But I don’t share my bedroom constantly with a wife, so that’s that, haha.
When I take prescription painkillers is the only time I sleep soundly enough to snore, but my wife tells me it’s pretty bad and I often chase her to the spare bedroom in the middle of the night. Using nasal or breathe strips helped a bit to keep me breathing through my nose instead of my mouth. I have a mouth guard I can wear and it helps, but I usually wake up with it laying across the bedroom; evidently it annoys me so much a take it out and throw it in my sleep.
My biggest problem is that I’ve broken my nose so many times that my sinuses are all smashed up inside and it’s more difficult to breathe through my nose. I need surgery.
Breathe Right strips maybe could help?
Sorry about the knee and hip trouble mate. Getting old sucks.
Sick calves though!
No tips on the snoring, but i have heard it correlates with weight.
Thanks for the suggestion. I am trying a mouth guard currently with a little success, I am going to persevere with it a little longer.
No alcohol or cigarettes. I have done both in the past but neither for a long time.
I was waiting for that one and you are of course correct, I should get it checked. I don’t feel like it effects my sleep or that I have apnea at this stage. I think I will try to control myself before going to that level.
I have seen these and may consider these next. I often have trouble with blocked nose and sinuses too so maybe getting a clearer nose could help. I have read that nose breathing also helps.
I think for me this is the biggest factor and I am hoping to see a marked improvement as my weight drops a little over the next few weeks.
I did a fair bit of reading on snoring yesterday and there is some evidence to show that doing some mouth exercises and even signing can help strengthen the muscles and reduce the snoring. It is a small investment to do 5-10 mins of mouth exercises and given I can do them at my desk at work I figure this has to be worth a shot.
I too used to snore a lot when I was at a heavier bodyweight. My wife tells me now that I barely snore at all now that I’ve dropped a good bit of weight.

And that is the deload week done.
Overall, do you think the deload helped the knees? Maybe you’ll have to wait until next week to see. Glad the deload is over! haha
Yea the deload deff helped the knee. I am going to drop the weights a bit for the next block and focus on squat technique anyway. But feeling much better now.
Strongman Saturday session today was me walking up and down with my 40kg (90lbs) barrel.
Walk as many laps as possible in 10 mins, 3 mins rest and then walk as many laps as possible for the second 10 mins. Every time I put the barrel down I did 5 burpees.
I managed 7 laps in the first 10 and then 8 in the next. This was a tough session.
Thanks to @T3hPwnisher for the bad idea
That barrel walk yesterday was brutal. Hip flexors, lower back and abs are trashed. Taking the kids to a ninja warrior course today and will try some of the obstacles and hopefully not embarrass the kids too much.
Ok so I now have a new found respect for @dagill2 and his bouldering. Trying to swing around on stuff when you are not the size of a 12 year old girl is damn hard.
I love ninja warrior stuff, it’s great fun. Not easy when you’re over 200lbs though.
What kind of attitude is this? If you’re not going to embarrass your kids, why are you even going?
Kids were actually quite proud of me when I made it up the warped wall. Although did laugh at me lots when I fell off lots of other stuff. Anything that needed grip for a long time was crazy hard.
