Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries (Part 1)

Wednesday 9th March - week 1

Deadlift
Bar x 10
70 x 5
110 x 3
140 x 2
150 x 6 x 4 sets (330 lbs) RPE 5, 5, 5, 5
Tried to be explosive in the warm ups and felt like I tweaked my left glute / hammy. Stupid.
Slowed the pulls down and whilst it hurt it didn’t stop me. Slow controlled reps on the working sets and they were good, even with a sore arse. Didn’t use chalk on first two sets and grip was starting to slip on the last rep.

OH press
Bar x 10
40 x 5
62.5 x 3 x 4 sets (138 lbs) - RPE 8, 7, 8,
First set Shakey as Fk ! Second was better,

Bench supported row
30 x 8 x 3 sets

Dips
BW
Max x 3 sets
Reps- 25, 20, 15
Happy with these tonight, felt so easy.

Good session tonight. My glutes were so sore it wasn’t funny, but still got some good work done.

Mate It was like being jabbed with a hot poker. You know, like at that club you go to with @Koestrizer :joy:

Ah yeah that part takes some getting used to but it’s a great addition to any evening.

You do have to pay a bit extra, which I dislike.

As a random observation, you seem to bitch about pain every time you SSB. Why do them? I say this as a person who has never tried one.

It’s not the SSB it is my knee. Pretty sure I have some tendon damage in there, it has been like this fit over a year. Notice it more on SSB because I squat deeper and don’t wear sleeves

A strained booty and a good bench session…keep it going

Can’t believe this is the only random observation you had. You obviously didn’t watch my amazing paused bench reps :joy:

Sandbag work again today. 80kg (176 lbs) sandbag.
Went back to the sandbag carry and burpee combination today.
10 rounds - pick up carry out and back then 10 burpees. Going every 3rd minute.

I tried a different method of holding the bag today. Pushed the bag over forward and then grabbed around the middle when I picked it up and lapped it. This made a bit of a channel around the bag where I could get my arms around it and lock them together. This is similar to what @Koestrizer showed me in his videos. This helped me to get the bag higher on the chest and get a better hold on it. The down side was that bear hugging it made it nearly impossible to breath when I was walking. @T3hPwnisher was right these really suck.

Good session and felt great to be out training in the sun.

Solid work! That is not an easy work out!

Thanks mate, coming from the guy who is smashing hard stuff right now that’s a big compliment. It’s funny how walking up and down with a big ass sandbag makes you feel like you are unstoppable for about 5 secs and then you remember you can’t breath :joy:
