Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries (Part 1)

If I could stretch to that it would give me plenty of room to grow for sure.

Except for one set of good 45# bumpers, all my weights are cheap ones I’ve gotten from people selling them online, and then the set I just got from my boss. I have enough weights to load my bar to 700 if I ever got there. It also gives me enough weight to have 2 bars loaded at once, which is convenient.

Thanks @littlesleeper its not the same as doing a comp but at least I can still see the progress and it just means ill be stringer when i actually do one.

Well, even at the regular fitness stores you can get steel plates for around $1 American/lb. So that’s like, what, $17.50 Aussie dollars/Kilo? :grinning:

LOL yer $17 and a jar of vegemite! Plates here are about $4 - $10 a kilo that’s Aus$ so about $3-$7 USD. That price is both new or second hand there is basically no difference. The challenge is that I cant drive more than 5 kilometers (3 miles) from my home and getting more weights for the gym is not on the list of 4 reasons to leave home !!

Nah, totally don’t blame you there. That can be a long term wish list item for if the world ever goes back to a semblance of normality. Like you said, the only time you’ll need it is going for max singles right now, so not much of a concern.

Yeah, I haven’t been Australia-adjacent since 1999 (Spent a week in Hobart, Tasmania right before I got out of the Navy), and as I recall it was the closest to a 1/1 exchange rate I saw anywhere, so just messing with ya of course. Hong Kong was like 7/1, Singapore was just a little worse than Australian dollars, Philippine pesos were around 30/1, and I don’t remember what the Dinarii/Dirham ratio was in the Persian Gulf anymore, I think I blocked those memories out.

Mate if you were here in 99 then Hobart would have been like a country town, its not exactly a big city even now. Tassie is a beautiful part of Australian and very different to other parts on both landscape and weather. The Aus $ does sometimes get to 1:1 with the US and when it does that is when we all get online and buy stuff we wouldn’t usually buy. LOL

Didn’t train last night and it felt very odd to be doing nothing. Left knee is really creaky today, it feels a little like a tight tendon or maybe ITB. Maybe I will get on the roller and give it some attention tonight.

I always leave myself an out too, haha. Good intentions though!

I am undecided if;

  1. The roller will help,
2, I use the massage gun,
  2. Should I just ice it,
  3. Will a hot bath be better or
  4. Will I be bothered to do any of it later after a day at work and an evening wrangling the kids. LOL

I quite often find myself in similar internal debates, good luck! Haha

Was listening to this whilst relaxing in the bath tonight. I think most of you know I am a big Dorian Fan from way back. Anyway at around 16mins he talks about there being no secret or optimal training and that most of the greats trained basically the same. He talks about how it’s all about hard Fkn work, proper hard. Listening this made me think of people like @T3hPwnisher and @ChongLordUno and @kleinhound and how it’s no surprise that the people on here who are seeing amazing results are the ones who just work the hardest.

He is very a interesting guy to listen to. Very humble with some interesting views. For me I love the old working class Brit in him that was just focused and out worked everyone else.

He is also the inventor of the only row that doesn’t totally fucking suck, and is part of my justification for using decline bench in favor of flat.

I also agree with the premise that hard work trumps all.

I’ve met him twice at drum and bass raves in Birmingham, I think in the period when he was retired and had “lost his way”

I’m late to the party but DAMN!

“Lifters over 30 must get real” yeah right

160 looked easy, but 170 really hard, I really didn’t think you would actually go heavier and do it you sexy beast! Crazy effort!

Really nice PRs man
