Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries (Part 1)

Thanks. It is funny that the closer I get to being strong the hungrier I am getting.

Literally or metaphorically?

What do you mean closer? You already are strong.

Mine have taken to telling me that “daddy has a massive belly”. I wouldn’t mind, but the missus started it.

Great stuff going on in here, as always.

I know I’m a week late to the party, but what’s going on with the toe that’s twice as long as everyone else?? Is he just in business for himself? Be a team player, man. There’s no toe bonuses (toenuses, obviously).

And, just as obviously, holiday weekends are for drinking.

Slightly more seriously, I hope the foot is healing up. I know that’s no fun, and it really sucks when everything is progressing well and then you get those annoying injuries.

Thanks TFP. I assume your comments are about my second toe which is longer than my big toe. Kinda like an extra finger in the wrong place !!! Been like that for ever.
The other toe is healing fine, still a little sore but don’t really notice it until the kids jump on it.
It isn’t effecting training which is good. Start new strength block today in Prep for Comp in September (that’s if corona doesn’t close it down)

I guess strong is a relative term and maybe we are never satisfied. At the moment I think of myself as kinda strong for an old guy!! I want to just feel strong.

Coach has started laying out the next block of training. I had a look at the template before he had finished and raised a couple of questions about the weight and if it needed to be a little heavier. His reply was ‘I haven’t finished those yet don’t worry they will be changed’
I replied ‘fair enough I trust you to get it right as you havent let me down yet’
he then went on to say ‘ha ha I have been trying to kill you for a year but you keep on surviving!’

Good to know coach is looking after me :joy::joy:

R u enjoying handling higher %s of 1 RM more often? Are you getting more confident with these weights?

I don’t know if enjoying it is the right way to put it. I am finding it useful to work on my bracing, tightness and set up. I am really hoping this makes handing even heavier weights less intimidating.

Fatsique updates. Still 88-89 kg (195 lbs). So still 2kg or 5lb under the weight of a fully grown man :joy:

Theoretically I guess lol

Yer that’s what this is just theory. The proof comes when I actually try a new PR. I can’t see it hurting as long as the rest of the volume through the week is balanced.

A single @ 8 RPE or less really isn’t particularly fatiguing. Not much volume. Has many benefits like we were saying so people run them sometimes all year sometimes during particular phases of training. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be hitting too many singles in training myself for a while but I’ll live thru u and ur singles

Still looking solid as anything man. That single looked pretty straightforward for you.
