Never big enough. Body dysmorphia life
You know I love you bro
No hurt feelings here, I’m too old for that shit. Funny thing is you are spot on. I just use what muscle I have to get through, my technique is far from good and not consistent. That just means I have more to unlock.
It comes with practice.
Do you watch your sets while you train? That can be a big help.
The other thing that helps is not thinking about getting through the sets but executing each rep correctly and explosively. You end up, on your main lift work, focusing on practising the lift and being explosive rather than moving the weight.
It becomes a habit.
I do watch some but don’t record them all. As you say it is just practice, I have good days and not so good days. I may not be young or new to the gym but technically I am new to this stuff, the good thing is, it just means the better I get the more the weight does up.!
It probably would help to start recording and watching every set from a plate onwards. It won’t really add time to your training.
What it will do is let you pick up any errors before you hit your work sets. That can make an enormous difference, like having a coach or trusted training partner giving you real time feedback. So by the time you hit your work sets you’re executing to the best of your ability, making sure you’re practicing correct technique.
Thanks Mark, I’ll give it a try while I am training in the shed alone. I don’t really like filming all the time in the gym.
Thinking that what I really need to do is join a proper gym like PTC or Iron Revolution and eek out the gains of training with some real powerlifters💪
Think of it as a necessary evil.
When you’re still in the process of ingraining technique, getting feedback from set to set is very important. It lets you make corrections as you go, not to mention is a tool that helps you learn how what you should and shouldn’t feel is associated with certain ways of moving.
After a time, you end up just filming working sets. By this time you will also know pretty precisely from rep to rep if you’re executing them properly and what to do if one is off.
This is a brilliant idea.
Another vote for filming most of your sets. I do that as well and it has become such a familiar mechanism to video the lift and then watch it, that I pay much closer attention to my technique when I know the camera is rolling. I pretty much envision I have to present each video to tnation and will get called out for technique mistakes.
That’s not the case really but as you know I post lots of videos in my log and that’s where that comes from.
I’m a soon to be real powerlifter lol
Which one would be closest to you?
About the same mate. PTC south melbourne and IR are both about 25 mins away. IR easier because I don’t have to go over the bridge. PTC just moved to bigger site and probably has more kit.
Depends what time u go cruising on the freeway is pretty quick. Maybe u can home gym for light sessions and big sessions u can go into a legit gym. If u visit IR even every now and then I’d be honoured to lift with you.
For these kinda gyms more kit is about the same tbh. Both gyms have everything powerlifting and ur unlikely to be waiting a while for anything. If anything all the strongman kit IR has will be > than PTCs
Regardless of what I decide to do longer term. We will deff set this up and get a session in together when all this nonsense has blown over.
I’m scheduled to socialise loads when restrictions reduce from gains appointments, arm wrestling super matches and getting some home cooked authentic Italian grub.
