Last night with my parent here today. Off to the airport tomorrow morning and they fly to Bali. Then one more week and we fly out to meet them. It will feel weird dropping them at the airport but knowing I’ll see them in a week. Usually it’s 2 years between drinks !!

Late to the game here because of travel, but very nice post. Also, I feel honored to be mentioned among such august company. I’m guilty of some of the same behaviors and thought processes, and a good mental recap like that is an excellent way to recalibrate your goals and expectations and remind yourself why we do the things we do!
I think because I came to the end of a training block and also the end of my cut it was like closing out the first chapter of the year. I always feel a little lost when that happens and reflect on how things are going. The danger for me when I do this is that there are so many people in here working hard and making great progress it is hard to get perspective on your own journey. Writing it down and thinking it through helps me rationalise those feelings and see the wood for the trees.
So I spoke to the coach and he agreed that we can change the deload for this week and test Instead. Tonight’s workout will be a taper/primer and on Friday I will test Squat, Bench and Deadlift. Not expecting big PRs considering a 14 week deficit and losing 7kg but it would be nice to at least move something heavy.
Discussed with coach the plan for after my holiday. The focus is swinging back to strength with the plan still to do a novice powerlifting comp at the end of the year. Coaches response was;
“ I plan to run basically the same method for your comp. We have a nice little thing going on in terms of periodization and frequency, and we would be mad not to follow what is now more or less The Rob System.”
It looks like I have my own training g system. Lmao

Used the belt for a change tonight just to get some practice with bracing against the belt. Stomach fat was sore after these lmao !!
The last 2 sets were hard, lower back, lats and abs really feeling it.

Happy with the 3 reps at 100kg thought they were pretty solid. Last one was a grinder but it went up.

Pretty darn happy with how it went tonight. Heaviest squat and bench for quite a while and both moved ok.

I can’t believe you even went for a second rep on squats. If I’m moving that slow then it’s a max effort.
Haha, my thoughts exactly when I watched it! I was thinking you were going to have to cut the depth to be able to get 2 more reps after the first was so slow, but you didn’t! Nice job.

Thanks guys, I just had the coaches template in my head saying 3 reps. My squat always seems to slow down a few inches out of the whole. It’s like I’m pushing real hard with my quads and then I remember to just push my back up and stand up. When I do that it seems to move again and up the bar goes !!
