Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries (Part 1)

Had Chinese takeaway for dinner tonight. Wife was pretty sure we had ordered too much so dad and I made sure we polished off the lot. I have no idea how many calories I ate but what I do know is that my stomach hurts !!!

Yesterday woke at 80.3kg, after a big dinner last night woke today at 82.2kg !! Oooops!!!

So I have one more session in the Intensity block and next week is a deload. The week after deload I go to Bali for 2 weeks so won’t be doing any training. I might do a few push ups and bodyweight squats but that will be about it.
I am thinking I might forget the deload and do something a little more intense and go off program just for one week.
I’ll see how I feel after Friday’s session and the weekend.

I think your week at Bali will serve as a deload. I’d keep training like normal for one more week. You can either do some crazy hard challenges or just progress your weights/volume one more week.

Yep, smash it for the next week and then relax in Bali mate.

Now that’s how you prepare for a trip to Bali. Nice!

Thanks mate. It felt good to hit a PR. Next week I can now do something a little off plan :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Had a pretty good day today. Took my son and middle daughter to gymnastics this morning, both did a great job and had fun. My dad came to watch too and we all squeezed into my little old yellow mini. Got the usual waves, beeping horns and people taking photos as we drove along.
Body had pulled up ok today. Lower back is tight but nothing more than a little doms. Legs and chest both feel good.
Going to have a few beers and kick back tonight and will go out for a family dinner tomorrow. Happy days.

Sounds fantastic man! You’ve earned it with all the hard work and dedication.

Thanks buddy. I get a sense that we are a little alike. Maybe we all are on here. I don’t see the work and dedication I just see something that has to be done or something I want to do.
I was training with dad on Friday and he commented how hard I worked in the gym, and how most people can’t or don’t want to do the work. I train alone and still push myself to do it every week.
I replied that it’s only 2 days and it’s not really that much.
But dad said how many other people at work my age would or could do what I do.
I thought about this for a while and the answer is very few. But I don’t compare myself to those people, I compare myself to people like @jackolee or @robstein who work way harder than me and look amazing. I compare myself to people like @MarkKO and @T3hPwnisher and @littlesleeper and @strongmanvinny2 and who are strong as fk and train like machines,
And I compare myself to people like @mortdk and @losthog and @OTHSteve who aren’t 21 anymore but still kick ass and are great role models for the younger generation.
When I compare myself I just see me, I don’t see me being better or worse. I see bits of me in all of you. I’m a little narcissistic, I’m stubbor as hell, I hate losing, I like to catch my reflection in the mirror, I hate doing nothing, I love feeling strong, and hard work is satisfying.
No idea where I am going with this post. I think I’m just rambling now.

Great post, and I appreciate being mentioned in a list like that.

TNation is a pretty good place to come and surround yourself with others who share the dedication to lifting heavy things.

The list of people you tagged there are far from your average “other people at work my age”! This group in a work environment may have success is high pressure sales tactics.
