Sick to Stomach When Cutting

I’ve been cutting down 325 to 295 over the last two~three months, decided I needed to take a break from powerlifting (well my shoulder did), and today I just felt like crap…
Last night I did cluster sets of deadlifts for the first time in awhile (10 singles and then rest, almost like 20 rep squat but with a 5~6 Repmax)… something that usually makes me feel like crap for a day anyway. But today I was in school teaching and suddenly just felt horrible. I sat down for my lunch thinking I needed to eat to feel better and just couldn’t… kinda forced down some chicken and veggies but not much…
Have had to crap like three times since then and still feel horrible. pretty sure it’s not food poisoning since I had my normal shake and everything for breakfast up until this meal…

Has this ever happened to anyone?

Was I being stupid trying to push myself that hard while dropping weight?

anything I can do to try to make sure it doesn’t happen again?

Thanks for any ideas guys

I have had ‘roughly’ similar experience as that, not exactly the same though.

It seems that when I eat a lot less calories my body wants to make me sick in an effort to eat more, especially carbohydrates. This problem is amplified when I have anything that increases my metabolic rate while in this state (Green tea is the worst offender).

My problem eased a fair bit when I incorporated pre and during workout carbs. I gave my body what it needed at a time when it would not affect my body composition as much, and also avoided any strenuous activity on an empty or near empty stomach.

And when you have 1900kcal a day, and 900 of those are your pre/during workout shakes, your body is anything but starving.

This is all anecdotal that has worked for me. Also, you are NOT stupid for pushing yourself hard while dropping weight, one should always workout hard (with exception of pre-contest Bodybuilders).

This advice may help you if you don’t have many calories near your workout. Worth a shot anyways.

What kind of sickness?? Were you throwing up?? just aching? low blood preasure?,just general feeling of shittyness?.

Have you refeed?, If general shityness is what you are experimenting (if you have aches or nauseas i’d go and see a doctor) then i’d go for a refeed, have some carbs, well A LOT of carbs and see how you feel.

I can tell about how bad you get to feel while cutting, but a refeed always gets you back on the track.

I hope is just that, but i’d always check with a doctor just to be sure.

Although I haven’t tried “cutting” to your extreme. I too recently wanted to drop 10-12 pounds for basketball season. I reduced my carb intake and as well as overall caloric intake. I dropped the weight but I too have been sick, achey, not much of an appetite. The worst part is I have been extrememly moody or irritable, borderline asshole. Has this accompanied your cut as well?
