Wait… What???
10 minutes is equivalent to a lot of peoples “3 sets of 10” timeframe. i would say this okay. What is not okay is the guy at my gym who grabs an adjustable bench, puts it under a smith machine, than proceeds with a half-assed circuit workout where the smith machine is used for maybe 5 minutes of the 45 minutes he stakes his claim to it.
If he hasn’t touched in 8-10 minutes and I want to use it - I just move his crap now. I told the gym overseers I would do this and they said “go ahead - that guy annoys us too”.
For some, the “working set” is rest from texting
I threaten to shove his phone up his ass.
I’ll take the texting people every day of the week ahead of the people performimg sets of 30 in a circuit and doing a banshee shriek before each rep.
It’s a friggin 30RM, how much do you need to get worked up for that first rep?
Maybe change the name of the thread to “Untolerable people in the gym”
I’ll do it if I also get to rename your log.
What would you rename it
Twinkielifting. Obviously
I would now.
I could get behind that
I’m very suddenly very glad that it didn’t come across offensive / racist. I learnt the meaning of the word literally 60 seconds ago
LOL nah, My food blog’s called The Red Braised Twinkie and I’ve written two pieces titled “A Twinkie’s Guide to Life” and “A Twinkie’s Guide to HS”- The former won a Gold Medal in Scholastic Art and Writing
It’s done.
My gym has like 4-5 adjustable benches in front of the dumbbell racks.
There are these 3 pussies at the gym I call The Gossip Girls. They go around in a little pack, mostly chit chatting about TV shows and computer girlfriends as they pretend to workout. When it’s dumbbell time they all take their own personal bench. Then each one takes a second bench to lay his phone one. That shit irritates me.
I’m okay with repurposed use of machines, but my gym bro complains all the time about a guy who does it.
A few weeks ago, a cute female was doing some weird stuff in the aisle blocking 4 machines.
I am so set in my ways, if I can’t do the exact workout in the order I planned it, i’m thrown off. So I try to get to the gym early on days I need to use the popular items.
Suffice to say, this is not something you should be doing. The glitch should be corrected. If it happens not to be, let me know. And stop editing posts.
Apologies.
I assumed it was a common feature since I flagged it before and it stayed.
I hope the OP isn’t offended.
That happens to me often, and I usually just say “Hey buddy, you mind if I use this while you don’t” while taking off/ adding weights to the bar or machine. Not once have I had someone say no, not that it would make a difference.
If you’re doing a circuit or pairing exercises that I want to do, you best believe I’m going to work in.
I sometimes pair chest and back, for example. If I see that people might want to use the bench while I do rows, I usually just tell them to go ahead before they ask me.
I don’t even call it gym etiquette, just basic civility.
this Is actually pretty sad, especially when you realize it is the same people that go to the gym, at the same hours, and still choose not to talk to each other.
I’ve ‘known’ half the people at my gym for maybe 5+ years and have no idea who they are.
