Also, just something else to think about–Arthur came to the police station to tell Dexter to back off when he thought Dex was just after money. Others in the department saw him there with Dexter. It’s only a matter of time before someone realizes it.
As sad as it was to see Rita die, they’d pretty much explored all avenues that her character could take short of finding out Dexter’s secret (which would have not gone over well).
Will he cut her up and dump her next season? If he does what’s the story line? What about Trinity’s family, they are bound to relay the info about Dexter to the police and if not may realize Dex’s picture when Rita goes missing, one way or the other.
Thus far, this was by far the worst season yet. The show has definitely been going downhill since season 1, but each subsequent season at least had you on the edge of your seat. Season 4 was relatively boring, and very little happened. I don’t like that he’s married with a whole family now, because he’s just not the same Dexter anymore. Whatever happened to being “born free?” He’s got balls and chains from several angles now. Rita constantly questions everything he does. She froke out because he broke some lights and got in a fight? Come on. He’s a man. He gets angry sometimes and needs some way to release it. That whole thing with her forcing him into rehab annoyed the shit out of me. Why did he say he was an addict anyway? It made no sense. He could have avoided the whole situation by just saying he bought it to frame the guy. Of all of season 4, though, the last 2 minutes were the best. It was kind of disappointing, though, to say the least. I just want everyone to know that he was actually the Bay Harbor Butcher, that he’s had tons of other kills, and everything else that makes him as awesome as he is. I hate that he has to pretend and fake everything. Obviously he needs to seem normal, but for the final season’s finale, I want him to be found out for who he really is. I like Dexter the character, btw, I just want to see everyone’s reactions when they find out who he really is.
I looking forward to season 5. I think season 1 is the best, then season 2, then season 4 and season 3 in last place. I thougt the season 4 finale was cool because hes son also being born in blood. it kind of links the last season with the first.

Thoughts on the season premiere, anyone?
The bathroom scene where he kills that guy purely out of rage was great!
The last line was great as well. I only hope that Rita kids are not a big part of the season, i really don’t want it to be full of you are reason my mom is dead, blah blah blah. It was already getting old in the season premiere.
I love this show but I thought the premiere was just ok. In my eyes Rita and the kids were there for Dexters character development realizing he has feelings and all, but they kinda wrote themselves into a corner with the whole husband and father thing. So they killed Rita off to open the story up and this episode tied up that loose end.
I think the FBI are going to find out he was pretending to be Kyle Butler so he could get close to Trinity. Deb knows about the ice truck killer being Dexs brother and she’s going to start connecting the dots.
Forgot about this thread when I started mine. Like I said, I thought the episode was great, a ton of raw emotion. But this didn’t really feel like a start of a new season, more like episode 13 of last season. I really want this season to get going.
i watched S1 and 2, cant wait to see this new season. netflix hasnt instant streamed the 3rd and 4th seasons, but i read what they were about. i want to see how it ends.
Great first episode! It’s only a matter of time before he kills the shit out of Quinn
Speaking of which, did anyone notice Quinn lost some weight? I remembered him having a bit of size last season, but he looked like a typical “skinny fat” when he was bangin’ Deb
I was expecting him to take the gas and burn that station or something. It would be cool if they referenced a gas station fire or something in the next episode.

I think it would have been a lot better if the guy wasn’t such a prick.
It would have been m8ch more poignant if Dex had murdered a nice guy.
If he started killing nice guys he wouldnt be the lovable serial killer he is.
Part of the mind fuck of the show is how you find your self cheering on the guy who murders dozens of people, slices them into pieces, dumps them in the ocean and saves their blood as a trophy.
