The more I read about show prep, especially the weeks leading up to the contest, the more I realize that everyone’s optimal prep is different and individual. Some people carb load leading up to the show and then deplete the day before. Some deplete and then load the day before. Some stop AAS two weeks out. Some one week. Some take their last shot the morning of the show. Some cut out orals leading up to the show. Some add orals leading up to the show. Some start cutting water two weeks out. Some cut water the night before only.
Is it really this individual? Seems like human physiology would have more common threads than uncommon threads.
Yes it is different for each individual person. People don’t respond the same to food/training/drugs. There is no stock approach that works for everyone.
I’m assuming the dry oral was enough to hold your gains or did you have other anti-catabolic measures? I saw a video where Craig Titus was gobbling glutamine 3 times a day leasing up to the Olympia, but I believe that has been debunked.
Also wondering when GH is typically stopped relative to a show
I was still trying to make further gains the last weeks. But yes, I always cut while on AAS, so I could keep as much muscle as possible.
Apart from dialing in my diet as well as possible, I took no other anti-catabolic substances for the show.
I had added 5 grams of glutamine to my post workout meal in the last years I competed. But I did that year round.
Though I took a little (2 IU EOD) HGH for the show, I didn’t know how to safely include insulin (which I consider necessary to optimally access the benefits of HGH.) I took my last HGH before leaving town to compete, so that would make the last HGH either Thursday or Friday.
