He is freaking adorable!
We’ve had this guy wandering by the house the last few weeks. Definitely not a “pet”, but a “we saw him, put some food out, and now he comes by sometimes.”
He’s pretty laid back and I was eventually able to get close enough to pet him, but not pick him up. He’s got a collar and tag, so we know there’s a home he returns to. We’re just, like, a snack spot. Tag says his name is Penguin. Because of course it is.
“Chris Cat” “Chris Cat” “Chris Cat”
Is that supposed to be a Beetlejuice thing? Like, say it three times and the cat appears.
I had a raccoon and an opossum as my porch pets for a while from feeding my cats outside.
Now down to only one cat and no more porch pets.
Let me dig up some spandex and hair extensions and see what I can do …lol
You have the cat version of my dogs (Italian Greyhounds seen in post 86).
Does that cat shed at all?
They’re Sphynxes - zero hair so no shedding.
They’re a bit like classic cars though: beautiful but prone to leaving the odd oil patch if they’ve been parked somewhere for a while.
Couple of years ago, I went to let the dog out in the morning and saw this outside the back door. I knew the kiddo had gone to work a while before that, so I text him if he saw it. “Yeah, but I was running late so I left it and figured you’d see it.”
That’s Pinky the cat staring out the door, probably thinking “'About my size, I could’a taken it.”
She just looks so proper in this pic I had to laugh. Sooo, elegant.
I had an big yoked up nutcase of a male tabby once that would fight anything. He once stalked a groundhog for about a month before attacking and eating it.
One of the last times I saw him he was chilling on my back deck looking proud but pretty tattered hanging out with the remains of what had been a raccoon.
I think that was a pyrrhic victory for him though.
Kids were up pretty early today. I was pretty groggy and just wanted to lie on the couch for a minute after getting them breakfast, drinks, and setting them up with toys and blocks.
Alfie decided I didn’t need any alone time, though.
Lost our 20-year old girl over the weekend. Lola ate breakfast around 8 Saturday morning, was gone when I walked by her room around 10. We took her in after Hurricane Sandy in 2012 when her owner decided he couldn’t keep her in his apartment. He originally told us she was 16 back then, but a year or so later, he mentioned “No, she was only 12 when you got her.” So, either way, very old cat, very long life. We tried to make sure the last bit was awesome.
Blind in both eyes for the last year or two, hearing was iffy, but damn if she still wasn’t a goofball who Daredevil’d her way around rooms without seeing, ate more food than both two cats, and was my main work-from-home hangout buddy.
Ended up burying her just outside the porch, right under the spot she’s looking out at here.

Sorry for your loss Chris,
Sorry to hear that. It’s tough to lose a companion, even if you’ve had them for a while.
Especially when you’ve had them for a while.
That’s a very long life. Good for her.
Sorry for your loss.
