If I’m not mistaken, those are the happiest dogs in the world, aren’t they?

My old man Ash has heart failure so he accumulates fluid in his abdomen. Every 6 weeks or so, I have to take him to the vet to get it drained. It doesn’t affect his breathing, but getting it drained is a huge quality of life improvement for him. Today he weighed 24lbs when we got to the vet and 17lbs when we were leaving. Almost a year ago he went on 4 meds. At the time they told us he was on the maximum dose.

Every time I take him back to the vet, they are pretty surprised he is still hanging on, and they up the dosages. He’s happy and content, but I know there is coming a day where he will start having problems breathing again and there won’t be anything we can do about it.

Dogs respond and tolerate certain meds like metoprolol really well.

I kinda feel for the old pooch. My Puppy Wuppy had a few similar problems when she got up there too.

Buttons looked so smooshy-comfy this morning, I had to take a pic. Now I have to share it, so you’re all going to be called to the thread to look at it. Sorry, I just can’t control myself. Her beauty! It’s like a drug.

Anyone here ever have an issues with their doggos eating Hill’s Science diet? I switched my puppy over slowly (over two weeks) and all of a sudden this week he developed really bad dogarrhea (doggy diarrhea). Poor guy made a mess in his kennel and all over himself when I got home yesterday.

I switched him back to a brand we previously used and he was already happier this morning with no accidents overnight, but his morning walk bowel movement was still not great.
Looking to see if anyone else had this experience

We’ve had to switch away from it because Buttons is too good for dry food now and requires refrigerated people-grade food with delicious and expensive “toppers,” but she ate Science Diet for three years without issue.

Buttons now puts food that displeases her on the floor for me to step in.

But back to you, lol, I’m sorry about the tummy issues!

I thought maybe he could be developing a chicken allergy (something doodle breeds have often, our friends bernedoodle is allergic) but his food was mostly chicken based before this bag of Hill’s too. Got one without chicken just to see how it goes.

We are just their butlers…

Crazy grains make my dogs sick too.

Maybe try a Grain Free recipe and see if that digests easier.

Probably best not to switch over suddenly - you want to blend the foods together so the animal has time to adjust to the new food. So maybe start with a 75/25, then 50/50, then 25/75 mix to transition from one food to another.

If it’s an allergy then it’s most likely the protein source so maybe try lamb or salmon instead of chicken as the protein source.

If you still have issues then maybe start with Hill’s ZD which is really easy to digest before moving on to other Hill’s products.

Wife mentioned this morning he is doing better. I know it’s hard to switch quickly for them, but it could not get worse than what it was yesterday.
And he much more happily ate this food then the Hill’s.

The weathers finally not scorching here. All the dogs are just happy being outside

The Cutest Dog Contest photoshoot was a success, even if it was slightly scammy. We are happy with the whole process.

It’s okay to be swindled for a good cause, and this was obviously a good cause.

Rylee and I helped save a lost boy on our walk the other day. Some weird little booger was crying and asking for help from an elderly lady because he was lost on his scooter. Rylee and I walked him to the local elementary school, which had a fall festival with fire and police.

He didn’t know his address, phone number, mom or dad’s first names, which school he attended or much at all besides his name. Maybe 8 years old. The cop took him inside and figured out who he was through the school database, thus concluding his scooter adventure.

Rylee was the real hero, keeping that weird kid from crying for the duration of our walk.
