Shoulders and Tennis

I am a junior in high school and I lift regularly. However I also play tennis, and in a few weeks my season will be starting, which means tennis six days a week and lots of overhead motions (well, just one, really).

I do plan to keep on lifting, but my question is how should I address the possibility of shoulder tendonitis/other issues that could arise? (Right now I train shoulders with mostly behind-the-neck barbell presses). Should I continue doing this? Switch to front presses? Dumbbells? Any knowledge anyone could share would be appreciated.

Research some of the articles on this site, of which there are many. BTN BB presses are generally considered to be bad news. DB presses are a safer alternative.

You need to be thinking about balance and mobility around the shoulder, elbow and wrist.

Tennis is played on your feet, quick, explosive changes of direction are just as important as your stroke. Core, hip, leg and ankle strength should be on your list of priorities.

Suggest you take this to another forum, possibly Beginners? This post does not really belong here.
