Shoulder Pain Due To Bench Press

I have been trying to increase my bench stat due to many reasons, and one time I tried 10 sets of 3~5 rep of flat bench. However, ever since that time, I get shoulder pain(maybe joint) when ever I do flat bench.
so my question is could that 10 set workouts have been the cause of the pain, also should I stop working out and rest or continue.
Thank you in advance.

i think it’s just an injury from overuse, take a week off and go back to your routine. if the pain persists i would advise you see a doctor. good luck

Also make sure not to flare your elbows out at a 90 degree angle, learn to tuck them more. Your shoulders will thank you for it in the future.

First - if it hurts, don’t do it

Sounds like possible rotator cuff injury, look up rotator cuff exercises and see if that helps.

Bump this

Happens to me all the time. I just take a week off and come back with a vengeance.

dont flare ur elbows… i know someone has already said this but this is a major source of shoulder pain try to tuck them… i def fucked up my shoulder too from flaring to a 90 degree angle… if it hurts alot take a week off…

i actually dont even do BP anymore… i just do loaded pushups and loaded chain pushups

and my pecs and shoulders still look amazing

same thing just happened to me…took 2 weeks off and i made sure to apply ice to my shoulder 2-3x a day for 20-30mintues.

good luck

Look up “poor mans shoulder horn” I had pain in my shoulders, started those with 2-3 sets of 20 with light weight and it went away.

Dont flare your elbows, dont bounce, dont stop the bar before it touches your chest, and dont do anything that hurts or feels like it could posibley injur you.

In my opinion the best thing to do is cut down on your front delt work, add in more excercises for lats, rear delts and rotator cuffs and take plenty of time off between workouts.

try floor presses…

Thanks for all your replies, I will take a week of and look out my form to see if I need to fix it. Also I will try the rotator cuff exercises.
Peace!
