this is really a beginner’s question – what’s the difference in the performance of sitting shoulder press with a barbell, and a sitting military press with a barbell? i looked at the little techinque images over at exrx.net, but couldn’t figure out the difference.
i’m just getting started and wanted to use the total body plan i saw on here a little while ago.
thanks

I was under the impression they were the same, just called different names. COuld be wrong though
same thing but do not do them seated b/c of stress on the spine and lack of total-body involvement.
Stress on the spine? Wtf are you talking about?
Either one is fine bro, I actually prefer seated military with DB’s and seated front presses with a barbell. You can get in some core training if you do them standing like bruins said, depends on your goals. Regardless, I do my side lateral work prior to any pressing on delt day.
Good luck and train hard.
