Shoulder acting strange coming up on lockout

Hey dudes, quick question, just started benching again and i seem to have this problem. When im bringing it up towards the top of the movement and im struggling, my right shoulder has a tendency to move superiorly and anteriorly, its not cuasing any pain, but im pretty sure once i start playing with the heavier weights its not great. Anyone out there have a good idea what muscle is out of whack so i can start hammering it to bring into gear? Thanks guys

Are you benching Westside style? Since I started Westside I have felt no shoulder pain at all, mainly because their involvment is so limited now. So if you aren’tbenching Westside I would check it out, and if you are, then I will leave this question to somebody more knowledgable.

I’m not quite familiar with benching westside style man, i just checked out the articles over at elitefts and their exercise index and over here on t-mag and cant find anything on it

When you said bench westside style, did you mean benching with an arched back, while touching the bar low on your chest or upper abs and pushing straight up (not in tha path of a j)?

Your shoulder is probably making up for a strength deficit. Without looking at your bench, I’d guess your triceps are your weakness since you are having problems with the lockout. Work on building the tris and I bet your problem will go away.

Yes when I said Westside I meant the arched back and the straight movement but also keeping your elbows tucked to your sidesand your shoulder blades tight together all while flaring your lats… I hope this is westside style… if not then I haven’t been doing what I am supposed to be doing.

Damn now I am confused

thanks, yea i think it is just weak tris
