Shoes For The Gym?

Im lookin to get some new shoes to wear at the gym. I use the free 7.0’s and i like them but i have wider feet and they arnt necessarily “ideal”. Does anyone use Air Max 360’s? That are expensive as hell, but maybe for good reason. Does anyone use a type of shoe that they are particularly happy with? I’ve heard asics make some great shoes, Anyone care to comment? I usually run 2-3 miles before lifting so a decent running shoe is always nice.

New Balance is the way to go. Great cushioning and support, and they last a long time. I agree, the 360’s are a bit pricey, Newby’s are pretty fair priced. The cross training styles are a bit bulky and heavy for me, so I would go with a 600 or 700 style running shoe. I don’t wear anything else to the gym but NB.

If you don’t like NB, I recommend the Brooks Beast. Asics, as you said, are good as well. The Gel-Kayano is their best model, but will run you about $135.

i always use either a pair of saucony grids or a pair of NB there a bit more pricey then some others but your feet and shins will thank you

The best shoes for the gym are football turf trainers, in particular the Nike Astro Grabber. They are extremely lightweight yet have great support. The 2007 Astro Grabbers come out April 1.

I wear my leather work boots except on leg day, where I use Converse All-Stars or go barefoot.

New Balance 992. I had the 991s first and they were the best I’ve ever owned.

Damn good shoes. Not a single stitch has come loose and they provide really good support.
