shawn ray/ no steroids?

Yeah but its freakin cool…

Ladies and gentlemen, I realize that some of you may not have read this, but several years ago MM2K did an article with an “annon.” bodybuilder, where they paid him to be honest in the interview. They never revealed his identity, however ANYONE who knew anything about the sport knew it was Shawn Ray who was interviewed. This guy sent in a fax to MM2K with a list of the drugs that he uses, and it was over a page long, and would have costed about $5000 a month. This is VERY typical of Pro. B.B…You want to see a good natural bodybuilder look at Skip Lacour, or Danny Hester…Anything Alot bigger than them boys is Juiced to the friggen gills…PERIOD…

You know…the regrettable thing for bodybuilders is that their drug use has created a VERY cynical public about what they do. MooCow’s post is probably a cynical example of most people’s sentiments. Now…granted…the bodybuilders and Power Brokers of the game have NO ONE to blame but themselves. But drug use seems to overshadow their hard work and commitment.

Let’s take Moo’s example of Dorian. If that lean, working Class kid from England merely sat around and injected himself with drugs, he wouldn’t have grown ONE OUNCE. Dorian was an absolute ANIMAL in the gym (“Diesel” as his workout partner called him), adhered to a strict dietary regimen, and had complete focus on the Prize during his reign as Mr. Olympia. Drugs or no drugs, HE WORKED HIS BUTT OFF, committed himself to a goal, and achieved them. For that, my hat goes off to him.

And in terms of Ray…I don’t worship anyone, but I do agree 100% with char-dawg’s sentiments:

“Juice or no juice, Shawn Ray has one of the best looking physiques ever. He’s large, balanced, athletic-looking, hard as diamonds (usually) and everything else that goes into the making of a fantastic physique. In addition to all that, he’s been one of the handful of top world competitors for the last decade and a half. There aren’t too many athletes (in any sport) that can say that. Whatever he’s been doing, it’s certainly worked for him.”

Well said, char…

Thank yuh, thank yuh verr’ much!

I agree with Jay and Cow! Let’s stop callin this a “sport”. These freaks are not athletes and do not engage in any of the elements of true sport (power, strength, speed, agility, endurance). And there definitely is a “fruity” nature to the whole thing. But truthfully, what does this greasing and tanning and wearing nut huggers have to do with sport? And with all this gear these guys use, where is the health and fitness aspect of the whole thing? Shootin yourself up with oil to give you a “fuller” appearance? C’MON. What a complete bunch of horses asses. It’s one thing to be big and muscular, but don’t call yourself an athlete or bodybuilding a sport unless you display some sort of skill or physically (not physiquely) beat your opponent.

Not to beat the Skip LaCour issue into this ground, but I don’t buy that he is natural, Mongo.

Screel: Isn’t Jeff Willet even bigger than LaCour now? (I think he recently beat him in a competition…)

Mufasa, I honestly don’t know. I only saw LaCour this year at the AST Booth at the Arnold. Dude looked about 20lbs heavier than last year when I saw him at the Arnold. No way this guy is natural.

Hey, Mufasa: Shaw Ray is going to be a guest poser at a contest in Utah.

Just a FYI. I do believe that in this day, he is the most aesthetically pleasing physique. I'm glad that he did not the follow the route of the other pros - triple-dosing and synthol.

I also think Shawn Ray is the most aesthetically pleasing bodybuilder. Obviously without gear he would never get that big and cut. Just look at top level natural athletes and you will see. Guys like Ronnie Coleman and Markus Ruhl are beyond roid freaks to simply freaks. Their big distended bellies tell it all. I would much rather be smaller, tighter, with a perfectly flat six-pack. I think they should bring back the vacuum as a mandatory pose. Look at Zane and Arnold. They looked awesome. Bring back the vacuum, and Ronnie would be dethroned, I guarantee it.

On a similar note, Ronnie complaining about Cutlers use of a diuretic is rediculous. I believe his quote was “If I used a diuretic I could have been shredded too.” Bullshit, the only difference between Coleman and Cutlers use of diuretics that Cutler got caught.
