Shave/Wax/Laser Hair Removal?

Guys, I am not a competitive body builder, but I am thinking about removing the hair on my chest. It has been compared to such as “carpet,” “forestry,” and “the inside of Dick Cheney’s ears.” Needless to say, I have a lot of chest hair.

I was wondering if you guys had any views on hair removal for the chest. My options are

Shaving: Not a great option, because the more often you do it, the tougher the hair gets, and the more often you have to do it. Also, I might miss spots or make it look uneven.

Waxing: I believe this might be the most painful, but popular, route. Anybody have experience with this? It also might lead to ingrown hairs.

Laser hair removal: Also a painful route, but might have the most long lasting effects. A fairly new procedure, can lead to burns. Takes a long time.

Nair: I don’t know about this, I just don’t trust it…

Anybody have experience/opinions??

I use Nair like its going out of style. I nair the shit out of everything, then shave whatever spots that I miss. I got a personal trimmer for touch ups. I’ve found that with nair the hair comes back thinner. I wax my back and then I have them apply some sort of oxyclean pad all over to clean my back. This I’ve found insures I don’t get ingrown hair/bacne.

I just trim it with a hair trimmer  usually have to do it every 3 months would be my guess.

The trimmer gets close enough to leave hardly any stubble, yet it’s convenient enough not to have to shave.

Really, Nair works? Its basically like shaving in its hair removal method… but easier, I guess. How do you get around your nipples? Also, how long does it take to grow back? I really don’t want to spend money on laser hair removal or go through the pain/humiliation of waxing my chest, it is embarrassing enough that I do supine hip extensions on a ball in the gym…

My dad owns a business that specializes in laser hair removal.

-It is very effective, but takes about 8 sessions to permanently remove the hair.

-It isn’t painful, they apply a cooling gel to the area you are going to get lasered. No burns, and the most you feel is occasional pinches.

-It is expensive, but it’s permanent.

The last time I used a trimmer on my chest, it grew back tough (similar to beard stubble). It was so bad it poked through a white tee one day and you could see the little hairs. It did that until the hair was long enough to curl up under the shirt again. I need a method that will leave the hair growing back thin so that I don’t have this problem.

The place I go to to get the top of my cheeks and my neck lasered (I am VERY hairy and those places look pretty weird with hair) hasn’t offered the cooling gel to me yet… is it new?

I have not used it yet, but I understand the Norelco Bodygroomer is very easy to use. It has 3 settings for different levels of shaving. I just want to trim my chest a bit, but not shave everything off.

Nair does work, you merely smear it around the nipples and your pecker and balls. Avoid the pubic region at all costs. It will burn like a midget just lit fire to your bit and pieces. Shave whatever the Nair doesn’t get.

As far as I know, this is not true or something you have to worry about.

Anyway, I simply trim it to about 3mm once every two weeks. No stubble, no irritations, only takes a few minutes.

Why are you shaving your chest hair? Are you a pre-pubescent boy?

I’m trying to look like one.

but seriously, did you miss the “inside of dick cheney’s ears” comment? I am only 20 and since I am not built like a bear I am trying not to have the body hair of one. Plus it comes out of the top of my shirt which doesn’t help in a formal setting.

Did you say bear?

It costs a little extra I believe but I was under the impression it was standard procedure, you can always ask them next time.
