Shane's Over 35 Shenanigans

Thank you. Went to Chattanooga for a couple days. Did the aquarium, Rock City, etc. We had fun and ate a bunch of good foods.

Still some barns out in the country you can barely see where “See Rock City” and “Ruby Falls” were painted on them.

Great work today Shane. Short vacation and right back to the grind. Solid work on the leg press and Smith squats. More leg work and some ungodly weight on ab crunch??? :exploding_head: Not sure what machine that is but hopefully it has a positive bias, at least for my sake… :joy: Way to get after it today Shane!

Yeah, those were really popular at one time. I ended up buying a bird feeder with See Rock City on it for my yard.

Thank you Trent. It’s a Matrix Ab crunch. Easier weight wise than a hammer strength counterpart.

I do high rep days and lower rep heavier days. This machine is maxed out at 210.

Solid work on that bike ride and the push-ups. Have you noticed any difference in your pressing since doing all of the push-ups?

Thanks Trent. Not sure I can really compare equally since I have been using strictly the smith machine, but it does seem like my pressing strength has grown some. I think it is more of a recruitment thing than an actual true strength gain. My chest stays pretty tight though. I am definitely not doing the 1 push up per day challenge. Once I am done with it this month challenge, I will plan to switch over to only doing my 100 push ups on my lower body and cardio days.

Man, great upper day Shane! Strong on that Smith IB and UH rows. The metcon at the end looked awesome as well. Way to get after it!

Regular BP today. If I gained any strength doing push ups it’s a minimal gain.

Beast of a session today Shane. I can only dream of sets of 5 at 225 on BP… Honestly, I would think that doing 100 push-ups a day would hurt your bench (due to constant fatigue of the muscles). Good looking metcon too. You lost me at 12x155 BB rows. :exploding_head: Amazing job on that. “The Grunter” at our gym was doing DB shrugs this morning too. From the sound of it, you’d think he was holding 400 lb dumbbells… Solid work this morning Shane!

I think you are probably right about being weaker doing push ups daily, but I do think they would carry over if you allowed time to recover. I know it made me better at doing push ups. I can knock out 40 at a time now without much issue.

LoL at the grunter. Got to get those shrugs in. :sunglasses:

That’s awesome about the improvement doing push-ups. I should start doing that in preparation for Murph (if I actually keep doing Murph since I have quit running). Not so much for push-ups but for squats. Doing hundreds of squats with a weight vest on is no picnic. Lol I was getting pissed last year because I ended up taking breaks in the middle of the (20) sets of 15 squats.

Nice job on that one Shane. Started strong with the Leg Press. Then got some very respectable sets on squat. The drop set 20x135 is a widow maker. I also like the 100 reps of curls to finish it off. That’s brutal. Good job on the elliptical yesterday and I must have missed the 100 push-ups fund raiser thing. I thought you were just doing the year long thing but switched to 100 per day for some reason. Very cool that you raised some money for a great cause and got your swole on in the process.

Thanks Trent. Yeah the push up challenge all came together really quickly. I’m glad it’s over. Going to only do them every other day for awhile now. New goal is to do some curls and lat raises on alternate days from push ups. :sunglasses:
