Shane's Over 35 Shenanigans

Have you tried them for OHP?

There is such a thing?

No. I really don’t do the SOHPs much anymore.

Idk honestly. I bought them awhile back. They are probably a lot more expensive now. :joy:

Nope, still a around a $100.00

Sporty! Just powerlifting? Or do Olympic lifters use them as well?

It says the heel height on them is .75 which is the preferred height for olympic lifters. Honestly, I really don’t know much about weightlifting but I bought these years back as a way to help improve my squat. So long ago I forgot why I quit using them. I remember now! LoL.

Some solid looking squat sets no matter the footwear. :sunglasses: That’s funny you broke the old lifting shoes back out. I had some like that too but must have thrown them out years ago. I think mine were Addidas. I remember reading the reviews on them and someone called out that they weren’t supportive if you’re lifting over 500 pounds. I was like, “well, I guess I’ll worry about that if I can ever lift 500 pounds…” :joy: I can’t remember what the benefit is but like you said, it must be advantageous to have the heel slightly elevated. My running shoes seemed to work fine for squatting. :man_shrugging:t3:

Thanks Trent. Yeah, I have used them sparsely here and there. I know the elevated heel was supposed to help with people with longer femurs and also aid in people with poor ankle mobility.

Kind of a good video here. Guy around my proportions demonstrates the use of shoes and begins around the 8:45 mark.

I also had some Adidas back in the day but honestly, they were too small for my feet. I liked to Do Wins because they sold them in size 14 and had wider toe box than the adidas. Like you though, I never tested the over 500 pound squat capabilities of either shoes.

Very cool video. Yeah the side by side shot they did of the guy was quite different with the shoes on. He had greater depth and his back was more vertical/less good morning-ish.
