I bought a motorcycle this weekend. I thought I was done riding when my son was born. I actually sold my last running motorcycle last fall. My father in law, who is a BMW motorcycle enthusiast, mentioned he wanted to go up to the 50th anniversary BMWOA rally in Springfield MO this year. This happens to fall on his 71st birthday and father’s day weekend. I mentioned it to my wife that he was wanting to go and she said I should get a bike and go with him. So I started looking for a bike. I like dual sport bikes for touring on. A BMW GS was not in the budget so I started looking at Honda Africa twins, VFR1200s, Triumph Tigers, etc. I ended up finding a well accessoried Yamaha Super Tenere for a good price and went with it. I will more than likely sell the bike when I get back from my trip. I haven’t had to put together a cross country motorcycle trip in awhile. Should be fun.

Appreciate it.

This is how I know your wife rocks. My wife would never suggest that I get a bike. Very happy for you Shane. It looks awesome. Hope you guys enjoy your trip! My neighbor was riding around on a mini-bike about a month ago and asked if I wanted to ride it. At the time, my wife was on a walk so I was watching the kids and couldn’t ride it anyway. I then told him I had never ridden a motorcycle, which is about one second before all my chest hair fell out… :pensive: No excuse for that.

Solid work on the Peloton. I love the, “my watch said it was ____ calories.” Good old Apple Watch. Keeping me fat since 2020… I’ve stopped counting my LISS sessions just to make up for the overage that (I believe) it is counting every day. Also, I take my watch off and put it in air plane mode every night when I go to sleep. In the morning, I turn it back on and it gives me about 200 more calories that I supposedly burned while I was sleeping? :man_shrugging:t2:

Thank you Trent. Yes, my wife does rock. No doubt about that one. I got really lucky there!

Motorcycles are not hard to ride, they are like bicycles with motors. :sunglasses: If you can surf you can for damn sure ride a motorcycle.

Yeah the apple watch basically tells me I burn 4000 to 4500 calories per day. I should be able to lose a pound a week eating 3500 calories. Unfortunately I am actually eating around 2700 to get that.

I don’t count any of my workouts for how I eat. I try to eat 2700 ish a day regardless. Of course when we go out to eat all bets are off. :joy:

Just for the sake of analysis, I made a spreadsheet (just now) where I input the last 30 days of data for both calories eaten and calories burned. My average (per day) numbers were as follows:

Avg. Intake: 3,176
Avg. Burn: 3,030
Avg. Surplus: 146

To be fair, I only used the last 30 recorded days of calorie intake. I did skip a few days because I was busy and forgot to count calories. I did use the last 30 days in a row of calories burned. Really, it is probably a wash as the surplus is fairly small and, I’m sure, well within the margin of error. I guess that explains why my weight has held steady around 179. So maybe I’m doing this fairly accurately after all?

I would say your watch is fairly accurate to your burn.

I am working with half a thyroid, actually just went to see my endo today and mentioned how I was not impressed with my lack of ability to eat as much food as I wanted. He bumped my meds up from 100 to 118 MGs. IDK, maybe it will make a difference. I hope so.

I had a nodule on the left side of my thyroid. They tested and found it could be cancerous so we removed it. That was about 3 years ago. I have been taking thyroid meds since.
