At the “ancient” age of 40 Ken Shamrock decimated KIMO with a vicious knee lift to the chin at 1:30 in the first round of UFC 48.
Don’t count the 40 and over crowd out.
Ken showed a great amount of class in his victory by not talking trash about his opponent and not wanting to continue to hit Kimo after the knee lift to the chin.
I am ordering my tickets for UFC 49 at the MGM in August.
Who castrated Phil Baroni? Did he break the time-tested rule of not having sex for 4-6 weks prior to a fight? He needs to move back to NY and regain his feisty attitude. Growing his goatee back would probably help too. Shamrock got lucky w/Kimo, but he would have won anyway. Poor Kimo: all show, no go. He is a scary looking dude, maybe he can try the WWE. He’s got the look down pat. St. Pierre is up and coming, he looked fantastic. He’s young, talented and enthusiastic and apparently picks up new skills quickly. Watch out. Tim Silva=ouch! It wasn’t as nasty as Psycho Sid Vicious’ infamous broken leg, but it still looked painful as all heck.
Best fight: St. Pierre-Hieron
Worst fight: Baroni-Tanner
For the show, a Thumbs Up: not for the fights, which were short and/or mediocre, but for all the unusual stories and occurrences: Sylvia’s injury, Kimo and Shamrock’s returns, Baroni’s being kidnapped and replaced by a clone, etc
