Vain - keep in mind that the concept of “romantic love” that we have today is a fairly new concept (late middle ages), at least for Western culture. Most people married in the past to ensure good tribal or political relations, or for other factors that didn’t concern love. Extramarital affairs (or premarital ones) were pretty much for men only, and they were certainly not induced by great emotion. Men are designed to want to sow their seed in as many women as possible, so as to become genetically dominant. Personally, I think that the propaganda that men should “be like women” emotionally is just a measure of control and emasculation that the feminist movement has (perhaps unconsciously) introduced to the mainstream. See “the war against boys.”
