Screw Terrell Owens

TO was not underpaid if you factor in his massive signing bonus last year.

I believe he was also due a massive bonus in the off season.

He only has himself to blame if he does not like the way his contract was structred.

Why all this hating on TO? The Eagles do a great job of marketing themselves as a blue collar team, but come on, no one in that front office is blue collar. We’re talking about a bunch of suits who make a lot of money off of blue collar players who go out there and risk injury everytime they play. And then they pay these players less than their market value and use the guise of their blue collarism(yeah, yeah, whatever) to justify their position and say these players are spoiled. The NFL is big business these days, and Philly is a money making machine just like any of the big time franchises.

I have a hard time listening to executives talk about spoiled players when they’re sitting in the owner’s box on their asses while these guys are playing, and especially a player who busts his ass on the field. Sure he’s a pain in the ass in the locker room, but he is absolute gold on the field. If they had paid him what he demanded at the beginning of the season, I have no doubt he would’ve killed himself on the field trying to win for them. I think he’s pretty well screwed himself with his conduct over the past couple weeks, but at the same time I’m tired of everyone saying the Eagles are better off without him. Yeah, TO’s the reason they can’t get any form of a running game going and their defense has come up short in close games this year. If that bastard would just stop catching touchdowns maybe the Eagles would win a game.

I totally agree! I mean he has alot of baggage that comes with his talent but He was underpaid. His agent was probably also feeding him his anger towards the denial of renegotiating his contract. I mean cmon this is a common thing… How would YOU feel if you were underpaid at your job yet putting out more workload than your co-workers? Also the fact that your co-workers are making more money than you. I also think McNabb is overrated and overpaid but thats another debate. But I can imagine how T.O. felt being underpaid for his talent compared to the rest of the team. I mean I know they already make a ton of money to begin with but lets be real this is pro football. I’m not defending TO but all I’m saying is look at it from all perspectives… All he did was make a bad choice and I think its a lose lose situation for the Eagles and T.O.

Also, does anyone notice a trend here with all philadelphia teams?? They seem to always blow in or near the end and they always have a “Hot Shot” kind of player?? like Allen Iverson… T.O. … Tome… I dunno maybe its just me starting to lose respect for my home teams.

OVERPAID!!?? You guys need to start looking at the real picture. He is a football player, so he is getting paid inordinate amounts of money to play a game.

Being as football has a tight cap, the salary is pretty reasonable, maybe lower, than other stars in other sports. But he chose the sport, and that is how it goes.

He is not simply baggage. He is a piece of garbage.

I can’t believe nobody has said this yet, but Irving was the real asshole here. He totally set T.O. up with his brett favre question, knowing full well that T.O. would take the bait and agree with him. It was wrong of irving to do such a thing, it’s like giving an m80 and a lighter to a 5 year old.

T.O. is the best physical reciever in the league. He does play as big as he talks, he goes over the midlle and hangs onto the ball like randy moss wishes he could. He goes over opponents for the ball like marvin harrison on stilts couldn’t do, and he has that all important breakaway speed. Besides all that he’s one big sumabitch and can usually run over a DB if he needs to.

All that being said, the biggest problem with T.O. is that he is a little immature and his agent is a complete fucking retard. His agent feeds him all this negative attitude bullshit and T.O. sops it up like a mop. If he fired that dirtbag, I think you would see a whole new attitude come from him, one where he is just happy to be playing and having fun dominating his position.

He will get signed for next year, you guys are crazy if you think he won’t.

I think TO will have a long time to work on his humility. He won’t see a big payday (in NFL dollars) for at least three seasons, if ever. I really doubt he’ll be offered anything but 1-year deals for the next few seasons, or until he can actually demonstrate an ability to let his play on the field do his talking.

But expecting TO to learn humility is like expecting the Texans to make the playoffs - it could happen, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.[/quote]

I agree. But I do think he’ll be picked up for some cheap, short-term contracts. If he actually agrees to them. But what other choice does he have? It’s that or nothing.

I think the general concensus is that he’ll get a short-term contract. At least it should be.

He can sell shoes for a living.

I heard Shante Carver, who should still be playing is now a telemarketer making 30k a year.

Get off his dick. It isn’t Irvin’s fault that TO is stupid and it isn’t his agent’s fault that TO is an asshole. He wasn’t with this agent in San Francisco, and he wasn’t with this agent when he screwed over Baltimore. TO is just a jackass.

Football is a TEAM sport, but TO has never been able to understand that.

Come on now, V. How can you possibly blame Irvin? His throwing out a possible inflammatory question does not mean T.O. has to answer it with such a dumb response. I mean, it was the day after he gave his “apology” - how could it not occur to him that saying they would be undefeated with Brett Favre as QB could be a huge problem? T.O. still has the free will to do the right thing or the wrong thing.

The funny thing with T.O. is that even though I am a diehard Cowboys fan, I always found him pretty amusing (except for that prancing on the star in Dallas, but George Teague’s hit on him more than made up for it). I also think he is the most talented receiver in football, maybe more than Moss (although that is up for debate).

But will a team sign him next year to some big cash? Yeah, probably. A GM will convince himself that he can minimize the distractions somehow for the sake of getting all that talent.

TO wishes he was as skilled as Steve Smith and Chad Johnson.

That is the queerest thing I’ve ever heard. Good job on the spelling and punctuation though.

Queerer than hearing someone claim that TO’s problems are the result of Irvin asking him hard questions? Queerer than blaming TO’s problems on his agent? You, Sir, are a douchebag.

It is generally unnecessary to waste your time contemplating my grammar or spelling. Both are immaculate.

Dumbass, you meant “dookie” on me. Moron!!!

And now “Jesse” is involved. Like it’s any of his business…Poor Poor T.O.

I’d love to see if he’d come to my aid if I f-'d up at work and got canned.

I’m not saying T.O. is some innocent little kid being taken advantage of here. What I am saying is there is a lot more going on than just T.O. is an asshole. T.O. doesn’t know when to shut up and his agent is fueling it and the media is taking advantage of it to his detriment all to make the news more interesting. I am cetainly not on his dick, nor would I be, I just think that things could have been handled differently by many people, obviously including T.O.

How the hell did the Eagles lose last night. When I went to bed they were up 20-7 and looked like they had the game well in hand.

They were actually running the ball very well.

Because they played my Cowboys, and you pissed God off when you said Texas Stadium was a crapper (paraphrasing, but you pissed him off nonetheless).

I hope you have learned a lesson about taking the Lord’s team in vain.

What happened was that the Cowboys came to town!

The same way Dallas lost to Seatle and Washington. 57 minutes of solid play, three minutes of shit.

Cowboys are now in first place for the remainder of the year.

Yeah TO is probably the worst guy to ever play in the league.

Worse than Leonard Little, who killed a mother of two children in a DUI.

Worse than Randy McMichael, who kicked his wife down a flight of stairs earlier this year.

That is two of the top of my head. The only thing you can blame TO for is being selfish. So what? I would rather have a guy on me team who only cares about two things:

1.) Playing his ass off every time he takes the field.
2.) Getting paid as much money as possible to do it.

I would rather have him than Donovan “Choke Artist” McNabb. TO would’ve been the MVP of the Super Bowl last year if DMac hadn’t been staying out all night at a Maxim party the night before. The guy went out there and put his career on the line to try to help his team win the Super Bowl. So what if he’s an obnoxious fool? Now granted, he went too far. But you might want to note that when the controversy first started, most of his teammate’s stepped up and backed him instead of McNabb.

Also, after McNabb choked in the Super Bowl, TO was the only one who criticized him, but where was the line of other players on the team who backed McNabb up? Not there. Now granted, I’m not trying to say TO is perfect. This is what happens when you take a guy who is already egotistical and a little crazy to begin with and surround him with people who are constantly telling him how great he is and giving him bad advice.

The bottom line is, I can’t blame him for trying to get every penny he can get, because you can be damn sure that as soon as he can’t help a team win, he’s going to be kicked to the curb like every other proffesional athlete. The bottom line is, the guy can play football better than just about anybody else in the league. In my opinion, it’s the responsibility of the coaches and administration to handle a crazy player. Dennis Rodman was a friggin nut, but Phil Jackson basically kept him under control. The real problem here is Andy Reid, not TO.
