You may have just learned this, but the architects of our legal system have known it for a very long time. The segregation of responsibilities between arrest, prosecution, determination of guilt and sentencing is a direct product of acknowledging human fallibility.
Absolutely. Yet we still have contrarian sentiment.
And gaps in process worth evaluating for improvement.
Absolutely.
What principle would that be? Golfers canāt be charged? Diplomatic immunity enroute to golf tournaments? They were dropped because there was a guy with no criminal history who could afford an attorney in a case with no absolute proof(like most casesā¦ever heard of O.J. Simpson?). āIf the body cam donāt catch it, you must acquit.ā
He should send that one police dude 7 cases of pants.
And a ātraffic control for dummiesā book on repeat every year for an anniversary gift.
Did you guys see Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill face down and in chains, in front of his Lamborghini, trying to get into the stadium yesterday?
No but I just read a race-baiting AP article that gives zero insight into anything that led up to Hill being detained.
Without knowing all of the details, one can only speculate. Reckless and violent behavior isnāt what weāve come to expect from NFL athletes.
Did you see his touchdown celebration?
Just saw it. I read another teammate was briefly cuffed as well and both were released without arrest, with the officer on admin duty pending an investigation. Iām curious to see how it all plays out.
I donāt know if the police reacted appropriately but I do see a lot of, ādidnāt they know who he was,ā comments.
I donāt really have an opinion. There are comparatively significantly fewer details shared than there were with Scheffler, and the administrative response is more agreeable imo.
By the time I posted about Scheffler there were already eyewitness accounts discussing police miscommunication & error, and a cop had already tried to tackle a car and then was attempting to cover the whole blunder up with department support by falsely charging Scottie criminally.
All I see here so far is a brief detainment, no arrests and a due diligence investigation.
Did you see when Hill was on his feet, cuffed and the police guy punches him in the face?
No, I just read an article that didnāt mention it. Iāll have to catch up later on, I am pretty busy with work stuff today.
Edit: as an aside I think police abuse is a bad thing.
My gripe with Scheffler was an attempt to cover up and ramrod erroneous, life altering charges systematically. I donāt see that happening here.
I donāt see how it is the police officerās responsibility to know all the celebrities by face.
I donāt see how celebrity status matters.
It doesnāt from my perspective either. But why is the question about the police knowing who he was asked at all? It should be immaterial.
People are idol worshippers by nature.
You didnāt see it, so how would anyone else have?
