And then sweeping errors under the rug too amirite?
What was the error in this incident? It sounds like Scheffler admitted to what was said to have happened(though I have not seen the affidavit or sworn testimony of the arresting officer).
I found the leading questions and the attitude of the officer offensive - Scottie should stop when he is told to stop. Like, if some rando off the street tells him to stop, heās supposed to stop. The cop questioning was either angry or trying to spin the narrative.
So that makes two cops twisting the facts to fit their story.
Scheffler claimed the officer was trying to hit him. Another report claimed the officer tried to hit Scheffler with his flashlight.
My brother in law was a cop. His partner made a bunch of arrests - all of them had the same narrative - driver failed to signal before turning, cops followed, driver threw something on the floor.
1200 summonses, all with the exact same narrative.
My HS baseball coach was a cop, took my buddy on a ride along. They went to the Police gym, my buddy was benching 250 or so for reps - āDamn son, youāre strong. Do you like to hurt people? Wanna be a cop?ā
The scary part is that many LEOās are so insulated, dumb, or lack self awareness that they wonāt modify their behavior.
Most cops I have ever dealt with have acted poorly. My in laws seem to be genuinely caring people. But the ones I have come into contact with organically have acted less than professionally.
Charging Scottie with assaultā¦. or was dropping the charges erroneous?
I donāt think youāre dumb enough to believe thatās an either-or situation.
I think that I am with @Njord. We are for anarchy.
We are just getting silly now. To be expected I guess.
The charges were bullshit. Never shouldāve been brought. Likely dropped due to scrutiny and being viral, not out of systematic principle. If thatās fine with any of you then your prerogative I guess.
And then sweeping errors under the rug too amirite?
That depends upon whoās holding the broom.
Most cops I have ever dealt with have acted poorly.
Look at who they have to deal with; some of the lowest forms of human life that are out there. Some of the dumbest, no impulse control semi retards. The mentally ill and the addicts. Barney Fife isnāt getting a job in Detroit and neither is Andy Griffith.
If cops were as bad as some people claim, there would be a lot more dead criminals and innocent suspects.
I believe they were dropped because there would have been a civil lawsuit against the police departmentā¦the town would then have to fork out a few million
Scheffler was nice enough to say no to that after the charges were dropped
Look at who they have to deal with;
Scottie Scheffler - clearly a dirtbag.
Scottie Scheffler - clearly a dirtbag.
Unfortunately we are going to divert to actual dirtbags with shit stories and ignore the bigger picture at this point. The conversation diverted from discussion around circumstance and potential room for process improvement to who was right or wrong about the details of the scenario itself, and now āwinningā has to happen.
Interestingly, the police officer on the forums acknowledged understanding why people feel some level of reform should happen and said more (or maybe better) training should probably occur.
My personal take is that best practice should be reinforced. You canāt just charge somebody after being a dipshit and not expect consequences. Curious if the officer will be punished in some way, or if this is just business as usual because his job his hard so itās fine.
Most cops, eh Something something common denominator
Neither of us know him personally, so he very well could be. The point is, kind hearted people who fear violence and confrontation and have IQs over 130, arenāt going to become cops and we wouldnāt want them as cops.
Take the L guy. You really have NO idea.
Worked with people across the IQ spectrum⦠most did their best and with good intentions but fuck itās almost impossible anymore. People REALLY donāt understand individual human behaviors especially regarding police work.
When you deal with people, donāt expect perfection. Cops can make mistakes. A cop can have a bad day. A cop can be bad at his job because he simply lacks the aptitude or because he is a psycho. What outcomes are you expecting? You want cops to go to prison when they break the law⦠oh wait.
No winning or losing - sorry you view it through that lens.

Iāve discussed this in a a reply to twojarslave already.
