School Sucks.

I start college this fall at a community college… I slacked off way to much in school haha but Its all paid for by financial aid and I did very well on the placement tests so im all set and could finish in under two years and if I maintain a 3.0 (not hard) ill get my junior and possible senior year at Umass for free… Im taking western civ (Ancient Greeks-1700s) which will be awesome! I will also be taking Psychology which I like and then stuck with English and Botany which could be helpful depending on what I plan to do with my History Major

I will be 26 by the time I get my bachelors (took a little time off). And if I decide to get a Masters, even with the accelerated program my college offers, I will be 27 by the time I finish… And then I will have a good year or two to work before the end of the world, according to the Mayans. :D
That’s one way to look at it. If the Mayans are right we all might as well have a 4 year Burning Man in the desert of California and party like it’s 1999.

I’ll probably be 28 when I get my bachelors (6 yrs in the military’ll do that) so don’t feel too bad.

Tell me about it. Don’t you just wanna kick their asses?

Speaking of the Mayan time period, There is only one Mayan time period record ( there’re lots of Mayan time period records have been found) indicates that the 2012 is the end of the world. Furthermore, even descendents of Mayans don’t even know about the year 2012. So, people, who worry about the end of the world, please worry about global warming and near-future food shortage problems that we have to face it as I’m writing this.

College can be fun, I mean everything you do can be fun, it’s all about perspective.

Thanks for the support peoples.

I’m a psychology major at a really big university. I enjoy lifting weights and having a little free time to work on my car but I hate the classes. I hate studying psychology. I can read tons of information on exercise philosophy and auto mechanics. I love the hell out of woodshop and getting dirty.

Sitting in a classroom listening to some stuck up professor babble about a bunch of studys proves something kinda sucks. I feel like half the bs they teach is trying to persuade me to believe certain things. I feel like I’m learing useless infomation. Why do I need 1.5 years of foreign language? I don’t even want a career in psychology, just chose the major because it would allow me to use all my credits that transferred in. I’m in my 4th year of school and I will prob be 24 before I graduate.

College is EASY! If you think life is boring in College, then I’d hate to see what happens when yo have to work full time for a living, raise a family, kids and pay taxes. There will be a day in your future when you look back and WISH you were still there…really.

Lol, I know how lucky I am right now. My only problem is that I want to be a Special Education teacher ALREADY so I can work full time doing what I love and be making enough money to support myself!

Haha! Dude that’s what my dad tells me all the time. I guess I should feel lucky to spend another year and a half dicking around.

how can you hate college? fuck, there’s nothing bad except having to pay for it.

I have one year left and I graduate with a BS in Information Technology. Roughly ten days later I will turn 40. So, quit your whining.

If you don’t want a psych degree I would suggest changing your major. My buddy basically did the same thing and wanted to change it but said it was “too late”. He now regrets not being an accounting major.

College is fucking awesome.
swissrugby67 wrote:

Very nice on the double major but I would strongly recommend waiting a few more years to do your MBA.

A MBA is a great career move but ONLY once you’ve gained significant experience in the field of management you want to move into (I’m guessing finance). You need to be able to bring something to the table.

Being not even 22, you are not going to be able to do that. You won’t be able to say:

“Ah yes, I can identify with this particular problem as I was team leader of…” or “This occured often within this frame work…”

Heck, most of the TOP MBA’s dont let people in without at least 4 years work experience and you’ll find still that the average age is 29. (More like 40 for Exec. MBA) (Wharton, London Business School, Insead, HEC Paris, Harvard, Columbia, NYU Stern, IMD … )

An MBA isn’t just academic. It’s a professional degree. Much like a good MSc. Finance.

Just my .02 but hey, well done anyway. Good luck.
Trust me, I have heard everything you just said at least a hundred times from a hundred different sources.

Honestly, for me, the MBA is just a last grasp of desperation. Since graduating, I have had a company I was working for go completely under, I’ve been laid off by another company, and I have had to work sales for a short time. Its rough out there for a recent business grad, and I’m simply looking to hide out in grad school while this economy of ours sorts itself out, and starts hiring recent grads like me again.

Perhaps this is why I was so quick to tell OP to suck it up and enjoy college: Because the real world can be a huge kick in the teeth. When I was a junior, financial analyst (what I wanted to be) was an entry level job. Now, it requires 3-5 years exp if you want to work anywhere reputable.

Believe me, even though it seems endless mindless and mentally torturous, you’ll reflect one day how much you actually DID get to dick around, do what you want, and delay all the life responsibilites you will have coming up as you get into the working sector and try to create your own wealth and support system.

Yep.

i go to college and work a full time job

neither one is fun. the only downside to college is really just the lame ass papers and lots of them or math/science work. but you guys saying how awesome college is arent talking about that shit. it isnt awesome to do homework, write research papers and spend 30 mins doing one math problem. its awesome to drink, its awesome to party and bullshit around with friends but that isnt college, its fucking around.

thats like saying work is awesome because youre banging some chick you work with or youre banging multiple chicks who come into where you work and you get drunk every night afterward with your co-workers. but that isnt your actual job, its fucking around.

fucking around is awesome

thats it.
