School Shooting in Connecticut

Funny, for a second I thought you were gonna write ‘im the teacher that can stop him’. But I guess it’s all about you. I seriously hope you are not a teacher.

Ignorance is a bliss.

And pray tell, what unique implement would be most effective to possess when the common man bands together to defend his own country against enemies both foreign and domestic?

Which one? Tell me.

You’re taking that quote wayyyyyyyyyyyyy out of context, man. lol

This might be the best thing I’ve ever seen posted on this site.

I love how you accuse me of doing nothing to help kids like Lanza and then when I detail the ways in which you are ignorantly making false, erroneous assumptions you accuse me of being egotistical and selfish. God forbid I defend myself against false accusations from some dipshit like you. Fuck, I’m starting to suspect that the hard-on you have for me is because you’re actually another one of HoustonGuy’s pathetic little troll accounts.

Why isn’t the discussion about the state of mental health treatment in the US rather than yet more ineffective gun control?

The Batman shooter was seeing a therapist who specialized in treating schizophrenia and Adam Lanza, the school shooter, was diagnosed with Asperger’s or some other spectrum disorder as well as a personality disorder according to his brother, Ryan.

The truth of the matter - and the reason this thread is up to 13 pages with no solution in sight - is because there is no one, over-arching solution that will prevent any one individual from massacring a group of people. If it’s not a gun, it will be a bomb. If not a bomb, then it will be an automobile driven into a crowd. If not an auto, then arson.

What no politician can say, and what the average citizen doesn’t want to believe, is that we are powerless to prevent something like this from happening again. Or, to be more accurate, these events can only be prevented by those in the shooter’s family and social circle who can identify potentially aberrant behavior, help the person seek treatment if appropriate, and then assure that guns, especially, aren’t accessible.
I agree that this problem is not simply solved by gun control. I believe that it will involve many changes including an improvement to the way that mental health is treated, the media and people not placing so much attention to the person that commits these acts, and I also feel that gun control is an element.

The problem I have is that whenever the topic of gun control comes up, gun fanatics simply want to shove their fingers in their ears and pretend like it will have no effect whatsoever. If it was necessary to put violence restrictions on video games to alleviate the chances of this happening, I’d be all for it. But gun owners won’t even entertain the idea that it might help.
Would restrictions on violent video games infringe on any constitutional rights? It is already illegal for felons and many institutionalized persons to possess guns.
This is another point that gun owners love to bring up, that it is a constitutional right, when the constitution was written well in advance of the weapons that are currently available. Times change. If your hope is to be able to arm yourself against the government “just in case” you must realize that you are already horribly outmatched. Other than pouting and stating “it’s my right” what is your reasoning for owning a gun much less more than one?

Lol. I haven’t seen that copy of the Constitution that says the right to keep and bear arms (in their current form) shall not be infringed. Do you really think the writers of the Constitution thought weapon design would be static? I need no other reason other than it is my constitutionally protected right. But not relying on others for my personal safety like many of the sheeple is another.

Sad day.

I think these type of events are a symptom of the anti-socialization of boys.

So many boys are at home playing video games, watching porn or hibernating in front of their computers. They do not have the social skills to be productive members of society or find happiness. I’m one of the few people you’ll talk to that believes computers shouldn’t be in elementary schools ( that time should be for building interpersonal skills).

Anyways that’s my hypothesis as to why we are seeing shootings are now happening on a bi-monthly basis

My bad. I confused you with someone else. I forgot, you’re the wacko who thinks the gov’t was behind 9/11.

I love guns. I own three 12 gauge shotguns (Weatherby, Remington and Browning), a S&W .500 Magnum (instant erection when that big fucker comes out of its case) and an old snubnosed S&W .357 Magnum. I like shooting them, a lot.
… besides, some of my best friends are black…

Nice how both sides of the gun argument can make hay while the sun shines here. Especially considering how no one is changing their opinion on the issue especially in such an emotionally charged moment.

I think some of the factors of shootings like this are certainly media driven. Everyone knows the names of the columbine shooters. Everyone will know this guys name. None but a few will remember any of the victims names.

The media coverage is driven by the fact that we are less violent as a people.

No fan of Obama’s speech so far.

I just heard some of Obama’s speech and I thought it was pretty good.

X2

Here’s someone who REALLY gets it. Make sure and watch all the way to the end. Don’t see how you could not.

Here’s an embed for the lazy-asses.

Did ya’ll think the president was alluding to gun control in his speech or talking more generally about measures to be taken to prevent these kind of shootings?

Gun control.

Thankfully that’s never going to happen. And anyone who tries to put a speed or rev limiter on my vehicle will get a boot up their arse.

I don’t have much conviction one way or another about gun control so while watching this vid I was just thinking “wow, this woman would make a really great actress”.

I dont understand it, a school is a gun free zone. How did he get the gun on campus, it just couldn’t be possible that a criminal would ignore the law.

I have a feeling we can look forward to a repeat of post-katrina N.O. sometime soon.

I read the first page and then skipped the the last few pages to see if gun crazies were out.

I was not disappointed.

Spitting on the the graves of children? Stay classy guys.
