School Shooting in Connecticut

Honestly, I feel like crying. What the hell is wrong with people!!

Me too, speechless.

I want to know if there are cops at these schools? I realize it is a elementary school but my high school had at least 2 in the school at a time. At least 1 cop should be in every school. FUCK!

is there any info on the shooter yet?

No there aren’t police at most elementary schools. We only had security (1 armed policeman and 2 other unarmed security guards) at our high school.

Any info on the shooter? A student? Teacher? Teacher’s aide/volunteer?

Even after this incident I don’t think a cop at every elementary school is a solution. I can see high school but elementary is no more of a security threat than any building with lots of people, including businesses.

Except the people in it are much more vulnerable to a threat. But yeah I agree with you.

I’d bet my fucking ass it’s a middle-aged white guy with extreme right-wing political views.

I find it strange that you expect policemen to be placed at schools, over hear in the UK i went to a really rough school and we had a PCSO (Police community support officer) which are pretty neighborhood watch in uniform pop in once or twice a week. Are schools so dangerous in america that they need two armed officers around at all times a=or do people just want to feel safe? I’m not trying to troll I’m just interested.

I literally live 5 minutes from the school and my brother was a volunteer firefighter at the station right next to the school. I can’t wrap my head around this. Words fail to describe the scene unfolding in front of me.

True, my main reason is that these things could happen anywhere and short of military occupation in every city people on patrol with guns won’t prevent much. With 1 armed guard you just shoot him first.

I live in CT and it is pretty sad. I worked in an inner city HS that had a cop and some security guards but this happened in a small town. There are so many schools that I don’t think it would be affordable to put a cop in each one unless we cut a little from the defense budget to protect our citizens where they are most in danger.

It is hard to think about because I heard about it a few minutes before I went to pick up my daughter from school. I saw school shooting in CT and my heart probably stopped beating until I saw which town it was. I don’t want to even imagine what parents who live in that town felt the moment they heard about it and worse, finding out it was one of their kids who was killed.

Also, my wife is working in a school in a town that has New in its name and the town the shooting happened in is Newtown so I did a little double take at first.
