Sayonara 'Treacle'-Helloooo 'Micropower'

EEEEEE…SUNGLASS WARNING RE: ABOVE PIC!!! (My apologies!)

Sooo, a bit of a slow week lifting-wise, between recovering from [what I did of!] TNT’s brutal strength workout, the air advisory (the grit pit features fresh?? outdoor air) and heat, and all this pesky/endless packing up of one small farm to move to a bigger one.

When el hubbo coached my already slightly insipid BP on Tues., he was so beat from barn-renovating etc. that HE had to rest between spotting my sets! Poor guy :(. And for the first time, I had a workout that started out solid and strong (for moi!), and then just slithered into total wimpdom.

El hubbo assured me that this happens once in a while, but I definitely didn’t like that feeling-yuck. For my DL on Thurs. I started a new cycle after my PR/215 last week; just did triples of 170…4 or 5 of 'em; okay, but still feeling the effects of that Sun. strength event workout to some extent.

Tonight it was back to my beloved-HA-bench, and because el picky coach noticed I was starting to twist my torso a bit with my first coupla lifts, we kept the weight down to 76 lbs. and I did 10 singles (in between singles, we cleared a bunch of stuff out of the grit pit/garage!).

Looks like until we eventually get settled at the new place, I’ll be lucky just to maintain where I am with the lifting. I’ve also got an accidental cardio program going, what with LITERALLY running Roy the [big] Lab every day on an extendi-leash. That boy needs to run, and we can’t let him safely off-leash on this place…

I know that ouro is the clear winner in the Bashed-up Legs Contest, but I thought I’d submit my entry anyway; took the pic myself, so had to do some contortion stuff. I sport an abrasion on the inside of my right thigh (courtesy of that dumb Duck Walk), and some nice scrapes on my left shin-from ‘everything’?!

p.s. oops, maybe for that leg shot, I should have worn something other than my micro-shorts from Hooters?!..don’t think I’m in any danger of a phone call from ‘Hef’ (thankfully, I did my centrefold ages back, before I started muscling up/bashing up muh pore lil’ legs  ).

Hey, I didn’t realise you got the sexy leg scrapes and bruises too. I got to show mine off at the beach yesterday. They looked very nice especially with the accompanying abrasions.

I’ve been talking this evening with an ex trainer about doing some strength stuff locally. I’ll keep you updated if your interested.

It took me most of the week to recover from Sunday. I can only imagine how much harder it is with moving and the large dog.

I have no doubt, however, that you’ll maintain just fine.

Well, what with some let’s-not-get-into-THAT drama on the ‘old’ farm last week, and some unscheduled challenges at the new one (involving a homicidal post-pounder), it’s just a relief to reach the w’end :).

I had a light BP workout on Tues., as I’d spent a few hours that day wrestling the wheel [of an articulated lawn tractor] like a python in the name of mowing a acre or so of grass…zipping amongst many outbuildings/trees etc. at top speed, else the ‘Horrible Doris’ would stall!

Thursday is usually DL day, but we were trying to fence that day. So, I substituted the Log Carry for DL; we had 100 8’ long/6" in diameter posts dumped by the road, and while pore hubby duked it out with the malfunctioning post-pounder I trundled about 100 ft. out to the fence-in-progree, on damn log at a time.

The first few felt like toothpicks, but by #10 or so I was experimenting with different ‘holds’ so as to use/rest different muss-kulls. In relation to my size, the post were almost like those ‘cabers’ the Scots love to toss; I woulda thrown a few around just for variety, but it’s just not the same without the kilt ;).

I know the strength contests are big on the ‘log press’, but if they ever get bored with that event, I’m sure the post/log CARRY would be worth a try. Maybe someone would like to have that event at our farm…maybe MONDAY, since there are at least 50+ posts left to move!?

Sat. night I finally got to do my DL in the grit pit; another of my terribly long and complicated workouts, as in a few warm-up lifts around 150-60-70, followed by 8 180 lb. single. El hub commented once more on my slightly unorthodox form, but every time he tries to change it too much I just get even weirder lifts.

Basically, I like to position myself fairly quickly, and just pick up the bar-tada! I lift conventional, so I try to keep hips down-ish/chest out/arms straight/head up and all that. Hub would like to see my hips rising a little slower in relation to my upper body, but my lower back doesn’t round; he’s concluded I’m simply more of a ‘back lifter’ as opposed to a ‘leg lifter’.

I don’t drag the bar up my thighs or anything like that (eek)-just a smooth pull to upright with feet planted and shoulders back pause. Tonight’s workout felt like uh, work, but not HARD work. When I do lower weights (i.e. 140-50ish) and maybe 4-6 sets of 6 or 8, THEN my heart starts to pitty-pat like a hummingbird.

Since I’ve been bouncing under 100 lbs. thanks to the abovemention (but not described!) farm drama, it felt good to DL a bit of weight; when I go above 170ish, I get to wear a belt and chalk up, so I feel all ‘legitimate’ :).
All I need now is a bitchin’ singlet that complements my skin tone…good luck with that, sigh.

p.s. so where is my camera, TNT? Hasselblad, Hasselbad, Hasselgood-WHUTever, just send the darn thing already!

I’ve recently made some-all in good fun!-comments about the whole ‘T-Cell!’ concept; I wish to emphasize I was in a sober/chain-yanking/let’s not take ourselves TOO seriously… mood, and did not intend to be disparaging or MEAN to anyone. Life really is WAY too short to be serious about much, except maybe the whole Africa thing?

That being said, just in case humour! happens to be in short supply, I thought I’d post the scintillating details of my most recent BP workout (before I go into hiding in my Secret Bunker). It’s been hit and miss training lately what with pesky moving stuff, but there was finally a day not filled with heaving huge fence posts and other fun objects around.

So, out to the grit pit, where last week I’d been reduced to doing a muy pathetic BP session of 66 lb. reps (which is where I was at in April?!). Very, um, NOT thrilling…so when I did 1 sec. competition pause presses up to 81 pounds on Mon., it was a bit of a relief.

SOMEday, I’ll sneak up on that ol’ bodyweight, although it would be bitterly ironic if by THAT time my weight was 200 lbs., instead of 100! Better keep my sense of humour well-honed :), heh heh.

You mean a BP weight of 200lbs and not a BW of 200lbs, right?! LOL!!!
I hope you don’t go into hiding for too long!

… just checking in from my [most] Secret Location :). I HOPE I’m kidding-heh heh?-regarding the 200 lb. bodyweight vs. benching my present somewhat more modest weight!! Just trying to cover the bases, in terms of not preSUMING I’ll fit into kids clothes as a senior citizen; maybe by then OSHKOSH will want me for their “Overalls for Wrinklies!” campaign?!

p.s. my [100 lb.!] bodyweight squats are going fab…what’s with the bar/weights thing, anyhow? Whose idea was THAT!?
