Sayonara 'Treacle'-Helloooo 'Micropower'

Ah well, there is nair for the palms now you know.

He does have a lovely back though. You can pass on my compliments. You don’t have me fooled at all. That’s your blacksmith isn’t it?

btw, my socks didn’t work. I tore up my legs and bled through the socks. Next stop, shin pads.

Uh, yeah, that’s right, it’s my, um, blacksmith! How’d ya tumble to my ruse so quick, ya smartie-pants Strength Challenge winner?!

My regimen has actually given me an even BETTER back than the above pic…I was just feeling too lazy to do all that tiresome flexing and posing (yawn).

Thanks for the ‘Nair’ tip; maybe I WILL do those pesky palms, after all; all this extra hair to comb (including my Helga-alike blonde braid extensions!)is rather time-consuming!

p.s. I didn’t realize those were relatively un-padded soccer sox; you need the REAL [soccer guard!] thang, girl. You’ll be thrilled with your new, un-scarred/scabby shins…in a week or so, after they’ve healed :). Finallement, you will be free to wear skirts that don’t drag on the floor, and flash yer gams like nobody’s business!!

What with our now-underway move from a tiny farm to a larger property (now we got us a ‘back 40’, well, back 10!-yeehaw), the workout schedule has had to become more flexible. Not having those trips to the grit pit written in stone is going to slow us both down; my 200+ lb DL PR attempt has been postponed a couple of times already. As well, I’ve already lost a contract to have that lift photographed and written up for “Not the Size of the Dog in the Fight/Chick in the Lift” magazine-grrr!!

I’m going to have to resort to posting a pic of me in the talk of the town!? Steel City Strength Challenge that has been immortalized? in ouroboro_s’ (the Women’s Undisputed Champ!) Strong Woman Adventure thread. Sorry if it’s old news at this point, but the only new photos of me lately would feature moi packing (and cussing)/being dragged on a 3k jog by our new (came as a bonus with the nouveau farmhouse!) 115 lb. bouncing chocolate lab)/scrubbing floors…ooh!

Those pics might be okay to post on the Fab Chores!!, BIG Dogs!!, or Cusschat!! BB’s, but unless an image of me doing a modified [strength event] Farmer’s Walk with 2 sloshing 5 gallon buckets of water, on repeated 30 ft. trips to fill a pony laundry cauldron qualify as a PR, then I got nothin’. Thrilling for ME perhaps, as I splashed my way through the house, but a pretty mundane pic, after all is said and done.

So, enclosed is a ‘refried’ pic…this DL wasn’t real heavy, but the Atlas stone in the foreground is the big bro’ of the 125 lb. stone the women, including wee me (of 100 lbs. & change) had to shuttle app. 15? feet between ‘platforms’. After a stupendously bad press relay :(, I actually did the Atlas stone shuttle in a creditable fashion-yay.

p.s. TNT-CDN: I found your recent remarks on the Strength Adventure thread regarding my, um, superfluous back hair to be rather cruelly gratuitous. Have you ever costed out electrolysis for a job like that? Let’s just say it’s a LOT, and the snickers of the esthetician are still ringing in my mortified ears! My doctor has concluded that I am part mastodon, but I maintain that all the time I’ve spent as a pony valet has caused this ‘sympathetic hirsuteness’…a little tactful compassion for my follicular misfortune would not go amiss.

Soooooooooooo, Hydro One is adding a new reactor at Darlington just to handle your
electrolysis needs??? Stay out of the horse feed.

I agree it was gratuitously cruel. I preferred to just pretend the hunky hirsute back was your blacksmith. Who, by the way, I want to hear more about.

Thank you for your support, ourobouro_s, in the face of the cruel rumours TNT-CDN, eh? has been spreading re: the Darlington power plant and my significant electrolysis
requirements; Mr. TNT, it is actually the windmill farm/fields of the Bruce Peninsula that are being pressed into service on my behalf…get yer facts straight, eh?

And ouro, regarding that sweet lil’ blacksmithy my ponies have been fortunate enough to have received manicures from over the past few years: he is sort of shy (as in, golly gee and shucks wazoo without the whole Brokeback Mtn ambience), but on the other hand his country-boy nature belies a surprisingly sophisticated/complicated “je n’est-ce pas” quality. I think I will send you his email address to avoid any sort of confusion i.e. moi/pimp :).

Roy-the-Dawg (who is roughly my size) caused me to catch considerable unplanned ‘air time’ on Wed.; he was on his 15 ft. extend-a-leash, and I kicked his mini-basketball out of reach…oopsey! As he lunged for his toy, I was pulled literally horizontal/off my feet; at first I had a pleasant but fleeting deja vu of the first seconds of water skiing as the boat yanks you up out of the water…

Seconds later reality hit, as did first one shoulder, then a hip, and finally my leetle skull bounced down on terra awfully! firma. Wow-haven’t had a tumble like that since my sweet pony so obligingly let ME go over a jump AHEAD of HER (she has that selfless quality about her…). But whereas that pre-lifting fall left me feeling like I’d been hit by a Mack truck, this most recent klutzcapade hasn’t had any such pesky after effects.

I totally credit my 7 mos. of power lifting: in terms of increasing bone density, overall core strength and balance (ya, I know I was pulled off my feet by a dog!), and giving me a bit of ‘natural armour’ in the form of built-up back muscles etc. El hub found that sort of layer of extra muscle very helpful in his professional wrestling career; he was flung on his back-and NECK, if the other guy wasn’t very good :(-all the time (as a ‘heel’, he was assigned to make other wrestler’s look good-funfun).

So you see, this whole post is actually an advertisement for the benefits of lifting heavy! Instead of limping around for a week as I did apres pony politeness!!??, I was able to do a DL workout the next day. HA! Since I already have at least 4 [horseback] riding helmets, I may just plunk one on the next time I play Roy Soccer, but otherwise my muscular self is good to go!

Ouroboro_s, CONGRATS on pulling 235 big ones on your DL the other day [chestbump/high 5 et al.]; I have my blacksmithy’s eddress/email for ya (he has a ‘hot forge’, so watch it!)!

And TNT-CDN, I am so bustin’ with muscle…I’ve just about doubled my bodyweight in the past week, so watch out, Amazonian rowers-HA. Oh, wait a sec…that darned Roy/lab was on the scale with me. Crap.

Oh well, I think my extraneous body hair (back, palms of hands etc.) takes me at LEAST over mini-cox’n weight??

Thanks for the compliment on my deadlift. I’m going to update my log tonight after I work out.

When are you going for your next big one?

Does your blacksmith resemble Fabio on a horse?

Are both of you coming for some strongman training on Sunday???

I will be there with bells on. Micro? Will I have to beg?

Geez, ouro, I WAS gonna wear MY bells on Sunday; now I’ll have to rethink this whole chic outfit thing (NOT gonna wear the dayglo unitard again…I think I made THAT statement already).

And my b’smith has smaller nips, hair and thighs than Fabio, but at least he can actually ride :). AND, his dream occupation is ‘sexsmith’(see: medieval trades!)…

On the DL/PR front, all this dreary packing etc. for the farm-to-farm move has affected the grit pit workouts a tad; yesterday I had to shift a bunch of bales of hay (50-60 lbs each), and not only did my flawless makeup run :), but the BP I did later was kinda wimpy. NOTE TO SELF: Do workout beFORE hay!

I THINK I’ll be going for that DL/PR in a coupla weeks…as long as you don’t encourage me to try anything too insanely challenging with those hulking rowers under TNT’s guidance!?

HA!/CHESTBUMP/GRRRR!!/AIRPLANE SWOOP/HIGH FIVE/YAY!..okay, enough self-promotion and preening (ooo, it IS kinda fun  ), BUT, I just did my DL/PR. And-drumroll [gotta enjoy it while I can!]-I lifted 215 lbs. YARRRR!

My previous PR was 200, and my ‘over 200’ kept getting postponed (due to things like the Strength Challenge Adventure sapping my micropowerful self…ourobouro_s was out mountain biking and marathon running the day after our little competition…I NAPPED-a lot!).

Consequently, when el coacho and I wandered out to the grit pit earlier tonight, all the media vans etc. had moved on to their next story-except for one confused chap who seemed to think the next G8 Summit was going to be held here in the near future?? (MAYBE the Manure Movers of the World Anti-Summit?!)

Anyhow, it was already dusk/dark out, so using the big mega-candle lantern for illumination, we took a camera vid clip of my 205 and 215 lb. lifts; alas, all you can REALLY see are shadows! So sad :(, but at least it wasn’t an attempt at 225, which is the Ontario open record for 48 k.

For my terrier-like self, who woke up weighing 101 lbs. this a.m., it feels really good (video or not) to have pulled 215. I’ve done some pretty heavy rack pulls, but until tonight-I now realize!-I haven’t actually worked that incredibly hard at a lift. Yawn!!

The 215 wasn’t a huge struggle, but I definitely felt my micro-strength being put to the test. In the past I’ve mentioned to el coacho that I just don’t seem to be able to SNAP! up the bar when I get above 175 or so…NOW I truly understand what a ‘non-snap’ (but NOT hitched up on knees and ‘drug’ up the thigh!) DL is!!

El coacho considered having me try the 225 record, as I seemed to be on the peppy side (mostly from going on a walk pre-workout with Roy the Dawg, and laughing hysterically at his crazy lab-frolics amongst irrigation pipes in farm fields).

However, what with the light not being too good and both el coacho and I not wanting me to get nailed to the floor/fail/burn out and all that nasty stuff, we decided to end the workout on a GOOD  note!

Soooo, that’s my story: stay tuned for further micro feats?! of strength…but check out ourobouro_s’ log for ultra-impressive Strong-Gal stuff!!

Now you, girl friend, are a rock star. That is amazing. To give you an idea, that would be like me pulling 270ish. I like math  225 can’t be far off for you. I am humbled.

Yay!

Where’s the video clip???

A chocolate lab and el coacho do not qualify as “ün-biased witnesses”.

I’ll be listening for a symphony of bells coming down Old Rail Lane on Sunday. Are you gonna be wearing anything else or just the bells???

TNT

Thanks for the macho  cheerleaders, ouro…do they do housework and move-packing?? (They LOOK like they have a lot of energy, but ya never know!) Thanks for the nice words/pic, anyway!!

And TNT, I tell ya it was positively heart-breaking to get in the house post-workout, and just see spooky shadows where my petitely muscular self HAD so niftily lifted that 215 lbs.! Sigh.

Alas, EVERY lifter doesn’t have EVERY lift documented…although when one hires a cinematographer straight from Hollywood, one does expect somewhat more impressive camera work :(.

Ouro and I have to do some logistical and wardrobe co-ordination, so I’m not at liberty to discuss our sartorial strategy; we’ll just mebbe leave that to yer sordid imagination (jingle, jingle  ).

p.s. my LAB does NOT lie; he is highly offended that you would even entertain such a suspicion, let alone articulate it!

Well, haven’t done any PL-specific training since my 215 lb. DL/PR last week, but if you check out the Strong Women Competition Adventure thread above (somewhere!), you’ll see that I haven’t been doing the ‘fainting couch & bon bons’ routine either!

This past Sunday ouro and I made the road trip out to TNT-CDN’s rowing club to train strongal event stuff with some of the young/strong! women he puts through dryland training re: rowing.

TNT has made most of the equipment used in strength competitions (impressive!), so we were fortunate enough to be able to train with ‘the right stuff’ (for some reason, the Duck Walk/Farmer’s Walk/Tire Flip stuff just aren’t to be found any old place), and under the guidance of Ubercoach TNT.

Out of the 3 events that were ‘trained’ on Sunday, I passed on the tire flip (ouro was power personified!), and did the starting weights with the two walks, as in 100 lbs. carried in each hand for the 150? ft. Farmer’s Walk/160?? lbs. lugged for the 75? ft. Duck Walk.

TNT’s rowers and ouro went on to higher weights, and strove for the quickest time; I was just thrilled to stagger slowly through the 2 ‘walks’ once…without dropping the weight after 5 seconds and running home to momma!

I spent my spare time forgetting to turn my camera on when taking video clips, and generally getting in the way…but the whole evening was great training, and a good laugh with TNT and gang; thanks again!

My stunted growth etc.!! may preclude me from being a serious strongal contender, but ouro and those rowers are certainly gonna make some [non-rowing!] waves when they compete.

As ouro kindly mentioned in the Strength Adventure thread, she got a video of my “why the hell am I doing this??” Farmer’s Walk; I’ll just post a goofy pic of me trying out the mechanics of some (can’t remember the exact name!!) overhead lift…with almost no weight (my kinda training, as in glamorous and easy!!)

p.s. obviously ouro did that overhear lift with REAL weight i.e. app. 100 lbs.??

For those that don’t recognize it…it’s suppose to be a Clean & Jerk. I gave her a white light because she was a rookie.Next time I won’t be so sympathetic.

Glad you girls had a good time and Julie’s legs must really hate me by now. No short skirts for any of these girls till well after Aug. 16.

I’m already looking forward to your next visit. Will have to re-stock the club’s first aide kit AGAIN.

And when you have to open the lense cover on the camera with a crowbar…it’s time for a new camera.

TNT

Awesomeness!
And what do you mean ‘real weight?,’ what is that over your head?! lol…

You should have seen her spin it like a baton after the lift.

…yeah, the frustrated majorette-sooo NOT!!-had to restrain herself from just a’ twirlin’ that bar/weights?? up a storm! However, the combined weight WAS pretty close to 20 pounds(!!), so I thought better of it. Better safe, and all that :).

And TNT, is that camera lens remark a little hint that you’re gonna send me a new camera? COOL! Ya really shouldn’t, but I accept!! (Perhaps a nice Hasselblad would improve my photography?)

p.s. ouro, you drink them drinks, and take that there recovery time seriously!
