Hey TMoney, if you’re still out there…I think you hit the nail right on the head as to why I wasn’t losing weight. Those oranges? Never weighed one until recently, and the ones I eat tend to be between 8-10oz peeled, which is a ton of carbs, and considering I used to eat 3 or 4 a day on top of oatmeal and Surge its not hard to figure out why I wasnt losing weight!

[/quote]

Hey bro, sorry I haven’t stopped by in a while, my apologies. Will do a better job from here on out.

Glad to hear about the oranges. Yeah, I figured the oranges were doing the trick. I didn’t realize either how many carbs are in an orange, and since I cut them from my diet several months back, it’s really helped my weight loss.

Looks like you are coming along nicely, bro, keep rollin.

Your GF bought you Low-Carb Metabolic Drive for V-Day? Seems like a pretty cool GF to me, she’s a keeper for sure!

Your pics look good, solid progress.

10 bonus points for the afro. Respect.

Will stop by more often, I promise.

Great results Sayjin! Round 1 goes to you my friend.
Our next goal should be two weeks from this past Sunday when I need to update. I want to hit that 180 lbs goal. That is roughly 3 lbs for me.

What do you want to shoot for?

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I lost my notebook that I was recording my intake in, so I had to start over fresh with a new one today.

Wednesday

HR - 66 BPM
Temp - 96.68

Meal 1 - 2 scoop low carb Metabolic Drive

Pre -Workout - 10g BCAA
Peri-Workout - 5g BCAA 1/2 serving Surge
Post-Worout - 5g BCAA 1/2 serving Surge

Meal 2 - 8oz chicken breast

Meal 3 - 1 scoop Grow!, 1 scoop low carb Metabolic Drive

Boxing skill work

Meal 4 - 6 eggs

Meal 5 - 4oz pork chops, tons of broccoli

Workout:

A)2-Dumbbell split snatch
5x3 (2 40lb dumbbells)

45sec rest between sets

B)2-Dumbbell push press
5x3 (2 55lb dumbbells)

45 sec rest between sets

C1) 1-Arm bench press
4x5 (80lbs R/70lbs L)

C2) Plyometric pushups
4x4

Rest 120sec between complexes

D1) Wall Squat
4x60sec max tension

D2) Jump Squats
4x10 (holding 2x20lb dumbbells)

I cut the rest time down on my workout today by 15sec on each workout (aside from the complexes) and upped the weight as well. After checking out Shay’s workout and seeing that she was using dumbbells during her squat jumps, I knew that I was selling myself short and decided to add some weight as well. Surprisingly, I didn’t lose any explosiveness like I thought I would, and the work out was much better because of this addition. The wall squats were hell on Earth though, but luckily the gym was mostly empty while I was there, because I must have looked ultra crazy shaking against the wall, cursing to myself and checking my stop watch every 5 seconds.

Winter break is coming up soon though, which means I get a week off from classes, and since hardly anyone will be on campus to check out books, I’ll have time to plan some things out while I’m at work. I’ve tried the AD in the past with little success, but I feel that I now have a better understanding of it, so I want to give it another try. I’m debating on if I should do the AD or Rob Faigen’s version of the same concept. After reading Coach CTs posts in ‘The New Thib Zone’ I’m rather convinced that I can perform the same kind of training that I’m doing now while on a low carb approach, especially since I’m not sparring or doing anything during my boxing sessions that would put me in the ‘athlete’ category because of my hand. We’ll see though.

Another interesting note: I had a cheat meal on Monday to test the waters and see how my body would react, and I don’t think it did at all. That morning I weighed in at 186.5, and at the end of the day of that meal (4 pancakes) I was up to 190. Hopefully this is just water weight, but from now on I’m going to try and search for some healthy alternatives to my favorite cheat foods.

No apologizes necessary, I’m just glad to know someone out there is reading this lol. Man, I had no idea that you went to NIU, but I just read a post of yours and I must say I’m glad that you’re still among the living. Stay safe broham!

Personally, I’ll be happy with hitting 186 again after that cheat meal mishap, but I’m going to aim a bit higher and go for 185 in 2 weeks. I’m guessing most of what I gained was water weight, so I say its a realistic goal. Lets do it!

Thanks man, yeah thankfully I’m safe. School has been closed the whole week, but I’ve been on the shelf with the flu and a really sore throat. If I had to get sick, this week was a good week.

Looks like things are coming along good for you Sayjin, keep rollin right along!

And on your note regarding the AD, I highly recommend it. I’ve been on it for the past several months and have lost a good amount of weight. I have a ways to go, but I am convinced that low-carb approach is a great way to lose weight.

How is school going?

I’ve been doing some thinking, and I decided that I’m going to give the AD another shot - and make sure I do it right this time. I can remember back when I started it in March of 07, I was a fool with my meals (eating a pack of chicken thighs + skin a day) and my carb ups were rediculous, but I feel that I’ve progressed enough in my dietary habits that I can do it this time.

Hey man, you’re not the only one who is sick! I woke up this morning with a sore throat and cough, which may explain why my temp was higher this morning, but I’m hoping it will be gone by this weekend.

School is going alright for me. I had my accouting test last on Monday, but our class was cancelled on Wednesday so I didn’t have a chance to see what I got on it. I was pretty bummed about not getting it back, but break begins tomorrow so all thoughts of school are out of my mind for the week!

What are you majoring in btw?

Thursday

Meal 4 - 1 scoop Low-Carb Metabolic Drive, 1 scoop Grow! Whey (post boxing, pre core workout)

Meal 5 - 6 eggs, broccoli

Meal 6 - 1 scoop Low-Carb Metabolic Drive, broccoli and 1 tbsp EVOO

Coreworkout

Side Bends x 12 (6 per side)
Supermans x 15
Dumbbells twists x 16 (8 per side)

Repeated x 2

Today was my first day since getting back into the boxing gym working with the pads. I talked to the coach and asked if we could just work on my left hand until my right one gets better, and we got to work, and it was damn intense!

One thing I noticed is that my shoulder lacks endurance, because as I was pounding away on the mits, it ran out of gas FAST. I’m certain that I’ll get used to it as I spend more and more time in the gym.

I’m excited to start the Anabolic Diet again, and I’m going to finish out this week strong, take my rest day on Saturday, and start the AD on Sunday. This time around, lots of eggs, very few chicken thighs, lean meat sources as usual, and tons of EVOO and Broccoli - by far my favorite way to eat veggies.

I’m also going to order more BCAA and HOT-ROX, with my goal being to hit 178 and then begin my slow bulk to the upper limits of my weight class.

Although it may note fire up some, this is one of my favorite training songs when cranked up to the max:

Jamiroquai - High Times

Yeah, definitely give the AD a second run through. Oh man, I hear ya, my carb-ups were stupid. I ate mainly fast food and junk food on the weekends, then kept losing the same weight over and over, I was spinning my wheels. But at this point, we are both smarter in regards to dietary habits.

Sorry to hear you are sick as well, hope we get better soon. I don’t like being sick, puts a hamper on pretty much everything in your life, including training.

Glad to hear school is going alright, hope you did good on your accounting test. Any big plans for your break?

I’m working on a masters in Sport Management. How bout you, what’s your major?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention this, but I love your avatar. I crack up everytime I see it. Good stuff.

Friday

Hell day is today.

I just got off work, and I’m about to head to the rec to perform my interval workout for the week, which I HATE, but I know it has to get done.

Todays workout

200m x 6-8

90-120sec rest between sets

50m x 5

Perform, jog back and complete again.

I’m going balls to the walls today, as it will be my last workout with Surge before I start my 12 day AD induction, so I’m going to make sure I earn those carbs.

Meal 1 - 2 scoop Low-Carb Metabolic Drive, 8oz Orange, 4 Flameout

Meal 2 - 6oz chicken breast, broccoli + EVOO

Meal 3 - 5oz chicken breast, broccoli + EVOO

Peri Workout - 20g BCAA + 1 serving Surge

Meal 4 - 4 eggs, broccoli

Meal 5 - 3 eggs, broccoli

Meal 6 - 1 scoop Low-Carb Metabolic Drive, 1 scoop Grow! Whey, broccoli + EVOO

I didn’t forget about you TMoney, but this is the last time I have access to a computer until tomorrow so I wanted to make sure I got my log in for the day, but I’ll for sure respond tomorrow.

So yesterdays interval workout didn’t happen because there was a high school track meet that was using the fieldhouse, but instead of not training I decided to have an impromptu weight training session since I already mixed my peri-workout drinks and didn’t want them to go to waste.

Scriptless training

A)1 leg squats
4x5 (50lb dumbbell - up 20lbs from last time!)

2min rest between sets

B1) Chin ups
4x8

B2) Dips
4x10

1min 30sec between circuits

C1) Barbell curl (65lbs - Bar + 2x10lb plates)
3x8

C2) Pushups
3x10

1min 30sec between circuits

Much fun was had!

So in preperation to start the AD on Monday, I’ve been going through and looking for the hidden carbs in things I use daily such as seasoning salt, and I found out something interesting.

The main seasoning I use when I cook is Lawry’s Seasoning Salt, and when I looked at the ingredients, sugar was listed, and in my world sugar = carbs. While it says there are “0g carbs per serving” a serving portion for the seasoning salt is 1/4 a tsp! I’ve already put that in the back of the pantry and replaced it with the Mr. Dash variety, which doesn’t seem to have any hidden carbs in it.

I dont have any big plans this break other than catching up on some movies I’ve been meaning to watch for the longest time but just couldn’t find the time to do. I need to catch up on the 5th Season of The Wire, and I’m debating on if I should try to make it through Band of Brothers since its a 9 hour series lol.

I went out to the movies and saw No Country for Old Men last night though, and it was the best movie I’ve seen in awhile. Other than that, I plan on sitting down either tonight or tomorrow and to figure out how I’ll work my training schedule in with my skill session. What about you?

Masters in Sports Management, eh? Sounds like a sweet deal…and I’m guessing you’ll be able to become an agent or something like that? Pardon my ignorance if I’m wrong, lol.

Saturday

Temp - 96.34
BW…185!!!

My bodyweight today really shocked me, so I’m guessing that the cheat meal last week was indeed mostly water, because I’m leaner than I was not even 1 full week ago. Most def a boost as far as confidence goes.

Since I’m starting the AD on Monday, I decided to test the waters today and see how my body reacts to more carbs spread throughout the day instead of all at once like last time. Not only is this clinic about holding myself accountable for updates and such, but also finding out what works for my body specifically.

It may seem silly to go try something different because what I’m doing now is obviously working to some degree, but I’m certainly interested in experimentation while I wait for my hand to start acting right.

Meal 1 - 2 pancakes, 1tbsp syrup, 2 scoop Low-Carb Metabolic Drive, broccoli (a fun combination!)

Meal 2 - 3.5oz chicken breast

Meal 3 - 2 pancakes, no syrup, 3.5oz chicken breast

Peri-Workout - 2 scoop Whey (just conditioning today)

Meal 4 - 6 eggs, broccoli

Meal 5 - 1 scoop Low-Carb Metabolic Drive, broccoli + 1 tbsp EVOO

I’m not sure the workout that I’m doing today, but it will most likely consist of burpees, bodyweight squats, jumping jacks, and medicine ball slams. I’ll update tomorrow with the actual workout.

Good call on cutting the seasoning salt and replacing it with Mrs. Dash. Yeah, looking out for “hidden carbs” are key. Even sugar-free pieces of gum have 2g carbs per piece. Nice job on the switch.

Sounds like a pretty relaxing break, catching up on TV shows/movies. We have spring break in two weeks, going to NYC to visit my brother, should be fun.

Nah, I don’t want to be a sports agent, I want to work in intercollegiate athletics, and eventually become an Athletic Director of a large D-1 school (eventually becoming the AD of the University of Oklahoma, did my undergrad there, I’m from there, and grew up watching/supporting them).

Sports agent is a good position, but very cutthroat and tough to be successful. I read a while back that the NFL has over 1,600 certified agents, but over half of them don’t have a single client. Ouch.

Keep on keepin on Sayjin!

That sounds like it would be a sweeeeet gig for you man. It looks like you already would already have the leg up on other applicants since you’re an alumni of where you want to work. It does sound mighty painful to be an unsuccessful Sports agent though, that is unless you have another job on the side to pay the bills, lol.

Thanks for your continued support TMoney, its really appreciated!

Sunday

Temp - 97.91
Weight - 188

So I’ve learned that I do better with the carbs spread throughout the day instead of all in one shot (in comparing Saturday to last week when I had a large dose of carbs). And, as all the experts have been saying, I handle carbs peri-workout very well, which was evident in my weight loss despite taking in 100 carbs a day, half of which was post workout.

Today was pretty crappy as far as sickness goes. I tried to go my workout last night, but my body wasn’t having any of that, with the combination from the flu and DOMS from the workout, so it was a no go. I stayed in bed pretty much all day and slept, but managed to do some reading inbetween naps. I’m working my way through ‘The 48 Laws of Power’ and am loving every page.

I couldn’t taste a thing today, and haven’t had much of an appetite either.

Meal 1 - 8oz beef, broccoli

Meal 2 - chicken breast, 2 oranges

Meal 3 - 1 scoop Metabolic Drive, 2 oranges, broccoli
