Samul's Training and Nutrition Log

Well my Norwegian is shit anyway. If they have any dialect I’m lost. It’s not supposed to be that way. It’s either related to me being poor of hearing at certain frequencies (too many concerts without earbuds) or simply a language comprehension thing. A… friend (very recent) from Hungary who normally doesn’t comprehend Swedes talking Swedish to other Swedes can apparently understand what it is I’m saying without problem. Something about my tempo and articulation. I think it’s influenced very heavily from growing up online. More often than not I think in English first and translate to Swedish later.

I’ve been locked up for one day and already rambling. Sorry @samul for making a mess of your log

Is it weird if I say I often catch myself do the same when I’m supposed to say something in Italian?

Haha don’t worry, I appreciate a friendly conversation regardless of what the topic was supposed to be. It’s also not like I’m getting tons of conversations in real life as of lately.

As per the image you posted, I study on my laptop, no books, so it doesn’t apply to me. Oops.

Apologies.

No worries. I was just elated for a bit too think you were “close”

It’s only 1 sea and 2 closed borders away.

2, 1 isn’t enough?

Thank you this, this is very much appreciated.

We suffered the loss of my aunt just two days ago so I can’t say my family is doing too well, but that was not due to the virus.

Aside from that, we’re all safe for now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for asking.

Sorry to hear that, brother. Wishing you well.

Sorry to hear that bro. Stay safe out there. Hope there won’t be any sort of civil unrest or something

Highly unlikely. The confinement order has been received really well by the population (the majority of it anyway). If anything, most people are now acting like wannabe cop and harshly criticizing anybody they see on the street, regardless of whether they have a legitimate reason to be around.

Not to mention the videos and pics I see all the time with the hashtag #istayhome of people showing themselves doing absolutely irrelevant stuff. Yeah, at least I don’t think there’s gonna be riots or anything.

@Voxel

Do you think I came off as an asshole in this thread? If you have time please take a read (there are about 10 comments to read so it shouldn’t take long. Don’t need to read the op but rather the following comments and my own answer after) and lemme know.

I don’t know why my answer is getting down voted. Thai is not the first time I have registered a hostile climate towards me over at Stack Overflow, and I think it’s weird because I have never had issues on any other board of the Stack Exchange family (I have posted tens of times on math stack exchange and was always well received).

Maybe I said something wrong, but I thought my answers were fair enough.

Not the way I imagined I’d participate in a AITA-topic but maybe there was something to this scene after all,

To answer your question, I thought everyone in the comment section treated you fairly benignly but your reponse “Did you read my post?” sets an aggressive tone which is not welcome on SO at all.

Furthermore, your answer has a tone that does not belong on SO. People go to SO to find answers to questions.

Granted, your question is very likely to pertain to you and only you but it is a community that works very very hard to keep things tidy. And your answer does not fit into that mould.

A downvote can be emotional, but with SO it is usually a signal that something is of poor quality in relation to the “community” standard and/or guidelines. Your answer is certainly not in-line with the community standard here.

I didn’t see anyone responding to you with sarcasm so that bullet confuses me. And SO isn’t a forum for discussion, these lines of inquiry,

This is probably not the optimal solution, and most likely not what they expected. Or maybe is it? If you have better options in mind, let me know!

are frowned upon.

So I’m not sure if you are an asshole, but you’re certainly coloring outside the lines.

There was a comment, maybe it was taken down, saying

And also, I think that saying “did you read my post” was warranted. What would I supposed to say in that case? He made two observations that, on top of being wrong, showed very clearly he hadn’t read my post.

Did this come off as provocative? I didn’t mean it to. It wasn’t a sarcastic question.

You are supposed to not engage at all. Or let “did you read my post” be something inferred from inbetween the lines. Some comments you get will be noise, disregard those.

No, not at all, but Stack Overflow isn’t a discussion forum. It’s a Q&A-site. It’s not a venue for debating nuances.

This,

This is probably not the optimal solution, and most likely not what they expected

Does not add value to the “answer”

Unless whomever created the original problem for you shows up, this below cannot be answered (and so it has no value to the community):

And with regards to,

People with better options will always let you know.
