So today once again I turned my rant Wednesday into a victory Sunday à la @T3hPwnisher. I got to the gym and both racks were taken by guys who’d just began working out and there was no chance I could work in.

But no way I was going to delay my session by 15+ minutes. I knew that there’s another room at my gym, but it’s usually reserved for shitty courses and stuff that I don’t really grasp. There was no one around using that equipment so I asked the girl at the reception if I could train in there and she said yes, as long as I’d be done in an hour because then the crossfit guys needed it.

Main lift and supplemental in an hour? That’s almost double the time I need. So yeah, I got to train completely alone in here.

Talk about a win situation!

That place looks awesome. And about 23x better than where you normally train.

Absolute win there.

Kinda bad news as far as my bowel issue that I talked about a while ago.

I was better for a few days after taking the antibiotics, but now it looks like I might be back to square one. The symptoms have come back and, while I can believe that quest bars could have something to do with the diarrhea and frequent evacuations, I’m not buying into them causing the other symptoms like blood and mucus in the stool.

I just came back from the doctor again, and she told me that I have to do a colonoscopy. We are unsure about the time line just yet, as the waiting lists are 6 months long here, which is why we’ll probably go and have the exam done in another city. Hopefully I’ll get it done within the next 20-30 days.

I’m kinda worried about the colonoscopy, I’ve never undergone an invasive exam and I haven’t even ever undergone complete anesthesia. But I know I have to do it so here we go. Hopefully it doesn’t turn out to be anything bad, but I really don’t know what to think at this point.

Ugh, sorry to hear about the health challenges! Best of luck getting that exam scheduled ASAP so you can find out what’s going on.

Flash update.

I just got it scheduled and for some mysterious reason they had a spot THIS TUESDAY. So I’m getting it done in 6 days. Good, as this means I’ll soon know what’s going on.

yeah, stay safe. blood in your stool may mean you have colitis. mucus is fairly normal, try changing your diet a bit. stick to chicken, rice, eggs, potatoes, and for god’s sakes stay away from gluten free bread. there are so many additives in that shit it’s shameful. try ezekiel bread and take some probiotics.

So I will go through the colonoscopy in two days.

Since I train in the morning, and I have preparation for the exam begins tomorrow evening after 19 (it’s basically a bunch of laxatives that completely empty your bowel and quite possibly your soul), I figured I should be able to train and get in some nutrition before I start the fast. I don’t want to have any solid food in my gut for the whole day, so I’ll use whey and dextrose.

I’ll drink a liter of water with 50 g dextrose and 50 g whey pre workout, then I’ll have the same concoction after my workout and once again 2-3 hours after that. That should net me just enough protein and some carbs without actually having to eat solid food.

It was pretty hard to get through this workout. I woke up with a bad cold and felt like shit overall. Plus, having to down the dextrose + whey got me nauseous as fuck, but by now I’m actually used to training while feeling like puking, as it’s that way most of the time.

But this was a good and productive session either way, so I’m glad I pushed through. Now I just need to down the remaining dextrose and whey and then stop eating, and at 7pm I’ll begin the preparation for tomorrow’s colonoscopy. Hope everything turns out well.

Colonoscopy results: negative :tada::tada:

Also @T3hPwnisher apparently quest bars were the main culprit all along. A few days ago I stopped eating them again as you don’t want a lot of fiber going in during the days leading to the exam, and most of my symptoms went away again.

How the heck did you know!

I’ve watched the whole series of “House” a few times.

But it also made sense. New stimulus, high fiber. I can get some GI issues when I live off of them.

I honestly don’t know what quest bars are, but if fibre is the concern, why not opt for fruits and vegetables? Waaay better source of fibre than something processed

They are a protein bar that opts for a fiber supplement in place of sugar alcohols to keep net carbs down.

I prefer the fiber to sugar alcohols. I don’t react well to the latter. But they’re more for the protein.
